Mobile DevOps Engineering: The Catalyst for Future Digital Transformation

The realm of Mobile DevOps Engineering is flourishing, catapulting the 'DevOps Engineer' as 2021's most coveted job title.  The DevOps market, valued at $7 billion in 2021, is expected to reach $51 billion by 2030, a testament to the soaring demand for these specialists.  This demand dovetails with an 11% rise in new app downloads and a 14% growth in mobile ad spend in 2022, spurring recruiters to prioritize DevOps and mobile development skills.

The Mobile DevOps Engineering field is experiencing a surge as businesses rely increasingly on mobile apps for revenue.  However, the mounting reliance also brings challenges.  Expectations for faster mobile deployment are escalating, with a dearth of automation seen as a hindrance.  Furthermore, consumer intolerance of app performance issues and heightened cybersecurity threats compound these pressures.

Google has removed the astrophotography capabilities within the camera lens of Pixel 5 and 4a 5G. The feature has been taken away with Google Camera’s 8.1 update.

This special feature was a selling point of the Pixel 4 and was also available on the regular and telephoto cameras. It was also added to the 4a 5G and 5 with their new wide-angle lenses.

The feature allowed users to take photos of the night sky by pointing their phone up and keeping it still by balancing it on an object or setting it up on a tripod.

The U.K. government planned to phase out the Huawei 5G technology and as part of that plan, it is banning the installation of the new Huawei 5G equipment from September of next year. The government announced back in July that it would be barring firms from buying new equipment form Huawei starting from January 2021, due to the national security concerns revolving around the Chinese tech company.

This means that any telecoms companies that have stockpiled Huawei equipment ahead of January 2021 will not be able to use them for long-term 5G rollouts. Reports suggest that several companies have been stockpiling the equipment since summer. However, firms possessing old Huawei equipment will still be able to maintain it after September.

On the other hand, matters of the ban enforcement and the laws regarding it will be set by a new legislation in the Parliament this week. Furthermore, telecoms companies could be fined up to 10 percent of turnover or £100,000 per day if they fail to comply with the new security standards, according to the Telecommunications Security Bill requirements.

With the widespread of the COVID-19 pandemic preventing normal person to person interactions, many companies have added ways for customers to use their mobile devices to order goods online, and get those goods delivered to their doorstep or picked up outside a store. But even before the COVID-19 pandemic made it necessary to have no-contact options, many customers would rather avoid talking to and interacting with employees - in 2019, 69% of people would rather use a mobile device than come up and speak to an employee.

The Battle Between Android and iOS in Some Countries

The two most widely used smartphones in the world are Apple's iPhones and smartphones that run the Android OS. Both are clearly meant for different markets as both of them run different operating systems. And both of them have their own set of advantages. But since they are the top two operating systems for smartphones, the comparison can be made, even though their target market might be entirely different.

Let's first discuss the performance of Apple. Apple's iPhone has long been known for its expensive price, yet giving a fantastic performance, which of course makes up for the cost they have set. But Apple does not have a good market share in every country. This is also due to the fact that Apple's iPhone prices vary from country to country. Say, an iPhone that costs 900 USD in America, may cost 1000 USD in another country, all because of one factor that drives the cost: sales tax.

One such country is India, where Apple's market share has been an all-time low. However, things are just about to change for Apple lovers in India and for Apple itself as the tech giant has announced to finally commence local production in the country. And Apple would have done that before as well, but India had always been very protective of its economy. Due to this protection, Apple's access to a country of over one billion people had been limited.

The Most Famous Mobile Brands: A Timeline

Do you remember your very first mobile phone? Especially if you are from the time when smartphones had not been introduced in the market, then you must remember how simple phones were back then. At that time, phones were more about connecting. Simple texting and calling were the deal, packed with some minor entertainment features such as the snake game. But as the era of smartphones began, the competition got multiplied.

We can see Nokia going down somewhere in 2011 when Samsung gradually takes over to snatch the top place in the phone market. In fact, Nokia wasn't at the top in the very beginning either. At the beginning of the 90s, it was Motorola that was absolutely ruling the mobile phone market. It was only in the late 90s that Nokia took over.

We are growing more and more dependent on mobile devices than ever before. We used to rely on computers but mobile devices are more compact and convenient to use. No doubt mobile devices have the countless benefits in both professional and personal world but they also have the tendency to expose sensitive data to the wrong personnel.

Cyber-crimes, hacking and identity theft are much more common in today’s world than ever before and these threats are real. They should be taken seriously. Previously, we have had strong threat defense for our personal computers, desktops and laptops. Mobile devices never received such traction despite the growing need of such threats.

A total of 22 companies including tech companies like Samsung, Apple's manufacturing partners Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron, and Indian smartphone vendors Micromax and Lava have applied for India's incentive program worth $6.6 billion whose aim is to boost local smartphone manufacturing.

The scheme is called Production-Linked Incentive Scheme and offers a range of incentives to companies including a financial incentive of 6% on additional sales of locally manufactured products over a period of 5 years, with 2019-2020 as the base year.

The companies that have applied for the program have agreed to export 60% of their goods produced locally outside of India, according to India’s IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad. He further added that the companies have estimated to produce smartphones and components worth $153 billion during the given 5 years time.

The goal of the Production-Linked Incentive Scheme is to make India a global hub of high-quality manufacturing of smartphones and support the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's vision to make the country self-reliant. Moreover, the companies have also agreed to offer both direct and indirect employment to roughly 1.2 million people in India.
