Samsung has expanded support for its range of audio technologies Auracast, 360 Audio, and Auto Switch. While these technologies have been accessible on Samsung’s devices, the blog post explains the extent to which they will be supported across the lineup. According to Samsung, the updates will begin to be introduced starting with the Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds FE from the end of February, and then to the Buds 2 Pro.

Auracast, an industry-wide and fairly new Bluetooth technology, allows a device to broadcast an audio stream to an unlimited number of endpoints like speakers and headphones. Auracast was first launched to Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds and its latest high-end TVs last year, following the Galaxy S24 series in January.

The Companies who hold the Most Artificial Intelligence (AI) Patents

There has been an increase in patent filings by Chinese enterprises for artificial intelligence products rapidly in the past couple years. The companies that hold the most active Artificial Intelligence and machine learning patent families are now tech giant Tencent and search engine provider Baidu. Their progress is ahead of U.S. firm IBM, South Korea’s Samsung, Chinese insurance provider Ping An and former AI patent leader Microsoft. The latter company has been seeing one of its major AI investments come to fruition recently, as conversational AI bot ChatGPT by Microsoft partner OpenAI has been making waves. Microsoft suddenly announced another round of funding for OpenAI, believed to be to the tune of $10 billion.

South Korean news site Naver has reported that Samsung could be adding a significant design update to its upcoming phone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. The design change is thought to include a droplet-style hinge that would contribute to a much less noticeable crease in the phone when it folds, as well as lesser stress on the display.

Currently, the crease design in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 phones is a U-shaped hinge, because of which the crease appears sharper and prominent.

Although Samsung is a leading Android mobile phone company and even proposed the droplet hinge design way back in 2016, competitors of the company like Oppo and Motorola have already resolved the sharp crease issue using the droplet-style hinge. It is speculated that Samsung held back from taking the initiative as a marketing strategy - perhaps the company wanted to wait till it brought out the water resistance feature that was first introduced to its third-gen folding devices in 2021, and then launch it with the droplet-shaped hinge. This would make its new devices stand out against Oppo and Motorola’s.

Samsung is updating its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro with a special audio recording feature that can capture a 360-degree sound from the wearer’s surroundings when recording a video. The sound, also known as 3D audio, will be heard by a viewer exactly as it was perceived by the user, hence creating an immersive and more realistic listening and viewing experience.

The 3D audio uses LE Audio, an advanced new Bluetooth audio technology that not just enhances audio quality, but also contributes to better latency and battery life. The device will record the 360-degree sound through the microphones placed in both the earbud pieces.

In an attempt to attract iPhone users, Samsung has launched a new website “iTest”, which is going to let iPhone users experience the world of Android through a web app. This can be done by simply adding iTest’s web app to your iPhone’s home screen from the website.

“You’re about to get a little taste of Samsung, without changing phones. We can’t replicate every function, but you should quickly see that there’s nothing daunting about switching to the other side,” Samsung says about iTest.

Even though like how Samsung said, not every Android function could be replicated, the experience is still quite impressive as it accurately replicates the Android and Samsung Galaxy experience.
