Countries that grant the most parental leave to fathers

A child needs equal time from both of its parents but, some working parents are unable to spend as much time with their kids as they should. If we talk about fathers specifically, despite all the love and spoiling, they, unfortunately, spend lesser time with their kids.

As the infographic shows, US fathers get no parental leave at all. The country was among the ones that lack paid maternity leave for new moms but, fathers are also kept from getting a day off from their work to spend some quality time with their kids at home.

In various developed countries, new fathers are seen to take leave for weeks or even leave the job in order to give all of their time to their just-born child. Japan seems to be a pretty considerate country in terms of parental leave since new fathers there are allowed 30 weeks of leave that too, paid.

The new job titles have been especially introduced after receiving feedback from women and mothers who have taken a break from their work and are looking for more ways to address career gaps on their profile due to parenting and other responsibilities.

“To make it easier for moms, and all parents, we’re making some important changes to the Profile. We introduced new job titles, including “stay-at-home mom,” “stay-at-home dad” and “stay-at-home parent” to allow full-time parents and caretakers to more accurately display their roles," explained LinkedIn.

Having these new titles will answer concerns and questions around women’s career gaps. It will also give more credit to the work and responsibilities of parents, hence highlighting it as something positive in recruiter evaluation.

Why Babywearing is Beneficial

Handling a baby is easier said than done. Their tender age needs gentle care, and parents throughout the ages, all over the world, have employed various methods to take care of their tiny one. You may have come across pictures of women in rural areas carrying their kids by tying them to their fronts or their backs. So certainly, babywearing is not a product of our modern era.

Babywearing has been around for ages, but we can assume that it has been on the rise and has become more common in today's world. However, this has been only in recent years and not from the turn of the twenty-first century. Parents were keener on leaving their babies in strollers, but now more and more parents have been considering babywearing because it is good for both the child and the parents.

Family Fun Hacks for Working Parents

The modern era revolves around work, work and more work. Technology has helped us out in many ways, but it has also increased the number of working hours. Not only are people working during their office timings, but they are also found working at home when they should be enjoying their 'me' time and 'family' time.

To add to the contemporary work lifestyle, the rise of both compulsory expenses, as well as luxuries, makes it essential for both the parents to work for the betterment of their children. Even if one parent is capable enough to earn for the family to run, both the mother and father have their personal goals which they need to achieve. But ambitions can come with a cost. And that cost can be letting go of family life.

The Impact of Social Distancing on Screen Time

Due to the prolonged lockdown situation all over the world, screen time has also increased. Be it for personal reasons or for work, avoiding the screen has definitely gotten beyond the control of many. Basically, this comes as a result of the pandemic confining us to our homes, leaving us with no other option to see our loved ones other than via video call or other methods involving screen-time.

It's not just the adults for whom screen-time has increased more than ever, but children as well. Even before COVID-19, since we are living in the age of technological advancements, we know how children are choosing online games and entertainment over playing outside. While that is certainly not a bad activity, the spike has gone very high from 2020 till 2020, with a 500% increase online each day. In some cases, children don't have. choice. For instance, educational institutes began taking online classes and homework assignments online, which makes a lot of the screen time unavoidable.
