The team at Playground Equipment created a valuable and fun infographic that helps teachers and parents think of ways to incorporate play into everyday activities. Child abuse is entirely too common in the United States, with 558,899 in 2022 alone. These terrible statistics can lead to lifelong consequences and even fatalities. The team at Joslyn Law Firm brings awareness to this serious issue with their infographics displaying the states where child abuse rates are highest.

Overall, the team found that Massachusetts has the highest child abuse rates, with 16.5 children abused per 100,000. This state was followed by West Virginia, Iowa, and Maine, which had similar statistics, around 15 for every 100,000 children.

Meta has announced new parental controls for Instagram and Messenger that will provide parents with more insights into how their children and teenagers socially engage and spend time on the apps.

The parental control update on Messenger will let parents know exactly the time duration a child is spending on Messenger. From the Meta Family Center, parents will also be able to take a look at their child’s Messenger contacts list, along with monitoring their privacy and safety settings. Moreover, if a child reports someone on the app, parents will be informed of it, as well as be able to see who can and can’t message their child.

Speaking about the update, Snapchat announced, “In the coming weeks, we will add a new feature that will allow parents to easily view new friends their teens have added.”

The social company further assures parents that they will be able to report any accounts that they find concerning in relation to Snap’s Trust and Safety teams, without informing their child about them, so as to keep any potential unwanted attention away from their children.

Countries that grant the most parental leave to fathers

A child needs equal time from both of its parents but, some working parents are unable to spend as much time with their kids as they should. If we talk about fathers specifically, despite all the love and spoiling, they, unfortunately, spend lesser time with their kids.

As the infographic shows, US fathers get no parental leave at all. The country was among the ones that lack paid maternity leave for new moms but, fathers are also kept from getting a day off from their work to spend some quality time with their kids at home.

In various developed countries, new fathers are seen to take leave for weeks or even leave the job in order to give all of their time to their just-born child. Japan seems to be a pretty considerate country in terms of parental leave since new fathers there are allowed 30 weeks of leave that too, paid.

To help users fill their career gaps on their profiles, LinkedIn has introduced a bunch of new job titles on its app. The platform has also made changes to listings of freelance positions.

The new job titles have been especially introduced after receiving feedback from women and mothers who have taken a break from their work and are looking for more ways to address career gaps on their profile due to parenting and other responsibilities.

“To make it easier for moms, and all parents, we’re making some important changes to the Profile. We introduced new job titles, including “stay-at-home mom,” “stay-at-home dad” and “stay-at-home parent” to allow full-time parents and caretakers to more accurately display their roles," explained LinkedIn.

Having these new titles will answer concerns and questions around women’s career gaps. It will also give more credit to the work and responsibilities of parents, hence highlighting it as something positive in recruiter evaluation.
