To help users understand how Instagram’s feed algorithm functions, and use content management approaches accordingly, Meta has released an overview of how Instagram ranks content for Suggested Posts, Home Feed, as well as accounts that you don’t follow.

The overview begins with Meta explaining its recommendation system for Instagram, which relies on AI to improve engagement, and divides posts into Connected and Unconnected. Connected posts are those that are displayed from accounts that you follow, while Unconnected posts are based on your activity on Instagram.

While Instagram shows you most posts based on direct engagement, meaning the accounts that you follow and the content that you like in the app, a lot of the recommended posts also pop up based on overall engagement, meaning the activities and interests of the accounts that you follow.

Carousal ads on Twitter have been a valuable multi-format advertising element that display multiple features or products and break up a single ad image across multiple frames. Last year, the feature was updated with custom headlines and landing pages, hence offering more engaging ways to create posts for several audiences within a single ad campaign.

Twitter’s statistics reveal that the update resulted in 20% increase in click-through rates and 25% increase in site visits compared to single-asset ads. The company is, therefore, ensuring that marketers gain the most out of these ads, by offering them a number of new tips.

Since carousal ads have a multi-image format, Twitter encourages adding variable visual assets, including both image and video. In addition to that, advertisers can drive more traffic to their websites by adding custom URLs to each image or video. To make the process simpler, Twitter has also outlined a map of the strategy in the form of a worksheet.

Instagram has enabled displaying of all forms of videos posted on the app as Reels, which indicates that the company is focusing on Reels more than ever, so much that Meta believes that in order for your content to reach more audience, Reels must be a part of your marketing approach.

According to Instagram, over 45% of accounts now interact with a Reel in the app at least once a week. This shows how much social media users have become more comfortable with engaging with short-form content. Of course, the trend was initiated by TikTok, and was adopted as a strategy by other platforms after TikTok’s massive popularity, in order to keep up with the usage shift.

To further develop creators and brands’ interest in using Reels, Instagram has recently introduced a bunch of tips that can help maximize content reach, the top most of which are about immediacy and creativity.

First, Instagram suggests that brands must highlight their mission or showcase their products within the first few seconds of a Reels clip.
