Wix, a platform that provides cloud-based web development
services, has shared a glimpse of its upcoming AI-powered features. “There are
a lot of fantastic things you should expect to see released in the next year,”
states the platform in a blogpost.
First and foremost, one of the most anticipated features,
the ‘AI Site Generator’ is soon to be released. Seeming like a game-changing
tool, Wix claims that it is capable of designing tailor-made websites using a
simple prompt from the user, incorporating designs and layouts that match their
site’s content. The tool can also be prompted to make “high-quality” changes to
a site.
Then there’s an ‘AI Page and Section Creator’ tool that will
enable a user to instantly add pages or sections to an existing website. Once the
user provides a text-based input of what they want, the tool will create the
page or section with the layout, design and text.
Another useful item is the ‘Object Eraser’ that will make it possible to extract subjects from images and manipulate them. Wix is also working on an AI Assistant for managing business that will suggest improvements for a website and generate strategies based on personalized analytics and site trends.
PayPal announced a new log-in system ‘Passkeys’ some time
back, and is now rolling it out on its website for Android users. The company
also launched passkey support for Apple devices last year. To access Passkeys
on PayPal’s website, users must have Chrome on Android 9 or above.
Switching your log-in system to Passkeys will not result in your password being removed from PayPal, as it would still be required to log in on unsupported devices.
According to some estimates, there are more than two billion
websites in existence in 2023, but estimates vary.
If all these websites were to be ranked according to the
traffic numbers they attract, a classic power law distribution would be seen. At
the low end, the vast majority of these websites would be inactive, receiving
little to no traffic. On the upper end of the ranking though, a handful of
websites receive the lion’s share of internet traffic.
The infographic uses data from SimilarWeb, looks at the 50
websites that currently sit at the top of the ranking.
Google is improving its Search algorithms, which have been
recently updated to highlight content quality and depth, as opposed to
displaying content from websites that have been primarily created to rank well
in search engines and suck in more traffic.
According to Google, the update “will help make sure that unoriginal, low-quality content doesn’t rank highly in Search, and our testing has found it will especially improve results related to online education, as well as arts and entertainment, shopping and tech-related content.” Google also claims that the update will help show “results with unique, authentic information, so you’re more likely to read something you haven’t seen before.”
Carousal ads on Twitter have been a valuable multi-format advertising
element that display multiple features or products and break up
a single ad image across multiple frames. Last year, the feature was updated
with custom headlines and landing pages, hence offering more engaging ways to create
posts for several audiences within a single ad campaign.
Twitter’s statistics reveal that the update resulted in 20%
increase in click-through rates and 25% increase in site visits compared to
single-asset ads. The company is, therefore, ensuring that marketers gain the
most out of these ads, by offering them a number of new tips.
Since carousal ads have a multi-image format, Twitter
encourages adding variable visual assets, including both image and video. In addition
to that, advertisers can drive more traffic to their websites by adding custom
URLs to each image or video. To make the process simpler, Twitter has also outlined
a map of the strategy in the form of a worksheet.
Twitter is bringing a new option for Communities that allows
admins to pin tweets at the top of the Community timeline. The pinned tweet
would remain displayed at the top of the Community feed, which would prompt
engagement within the tab.
“Some Tweets deserve the spotlight, which is why mods and admins can now pin their Community Tweets on web,” Twitter says about the new option. According to the company, it was something that users had been requesting for.

While Google does not state exactly the way this update
works, to prevent its system from being scammed, it does, however, provide an
overview of the update.
According to Google, core updates are changes in Google’s overall ranking processes, which “improve Search overall and keep pace with the changing nature of the web.” Google further adds that “these updates may produce some noticeable changes to how sites perform.”

Google has
created its own auto purchase feature, by offering new vehicle ads on
Search that would direct users
to nearby cars for sale. As a result, auto sellers can maximize
connection with potential customers.
The ads will display several vehicle options available nearby to the user, that they can either purchase or get delivered. In addition to this, details of the vehicle including pictures and inventory information like location, make, model, price and mileage will also be displayed.
SEMRush has shared a list of the most visited websites in
December of 2021 in the US. As expected, websites like Google, YouTube,
Facebook, and Amazon made it to the top of the list. These are followed by Wikipedia,
Walmart, Instagram, ESPN and others.
Specifically, in terms of traffic, however, Reddit was found to be ahead of most other social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
