Keeping up with the theme of this earnings season, surpassing low expectations, Amazon reported results way better than they were expected. This e-commerce giant that had fought to live up to expectations in 2022, reported a net profit of $3.2 billion on net sales of $127 billion on Thursday, for the first three months of 2023, beating analyst expectations on the top and bottom line.
As Easter is just around the corner, it would be interesting to take a look at some of the figures behind the one item which has a traditional link to the springtime festivities: chocolate. After all, according to the National Confectioners Association, Easter ($5.1 billion) exceeded even Valentine’s Day ($4.4 billion) in terms of confectionary sales in the United States in 2022, while coming in after the Winter Holidays ($6.8 billion) and Halloween ($6.0 billion).
The term “Black Friday” is used to refer to the day after
Thanksgiving Day in the United States. It first became widely known in the 1980’s.
This term was originally created by the police as they associated the chaotic atmosphere
especially traffic congestions with the unofficial start of the Christmas
shopping season. Black Friday has regularly been the busiest shopping day of
the year since the early 2000s. This is so because many retailers started
offering exceptional discounts and opening up their stores earlier in the
morning to entertain as many consumers as possible.
Google has
created its own auto purchase feature, by offering new vehicle ads on
Search that would direct users
to nearby cars for sale. As a result, auto sellers can maximize
connection with potential customers.
The ads will display several vehicle options available nearby to the user, that they can either purchase or get delivered. In addition to this, details of the vehicle including pictures and inventory information like location, make, model, price and mileage will also be displayed.
