To celebrate innovative and creative people on its platform, TikTok has released a ‘Discover List’ of 50 “game changing” content creators that have contributed to community work or other positive impacts in 2022. “They entertain, shine light on important topics, educate, and inspire,” says TikTok about these creators.

Each creator’s special contribution is determined by a category. There are five categories in total and each represents ten creators. The categories are: Changemakers, Foodies, Icons, Innovators, and Originators.

Creators highlighted in the Discover List will be displayed on brand channels on TikTok, while a special digital booklet is also dedicated to them, containing their description and overview of their work.

Facebook is launching a website to provide resources and tools to businesses to assist them in their social impact. ‘'Our mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together, and we know that social good is inextricably linked to that mission, as we build products and services for businesses to advance meaningful change that lasts,’' says Facebook.

Head of Global Business Strategy and Engagement at Facebook, Arielle Gross Samuels says that there has been a rise in businesses of all sizes doing social good in the recent years. Since consumers have also been expecting more from businesses in terms of driving meaningful change through social good, businesses have the opportunity to advance in this area.

Each business may engage in social good differently, but the final goal is the same for everyone, which is that social good is for everyone, including the economy, relationship with customers, the community, and of course the business itself.

What Does it Take to Work in the Aged Care Sector?

The first basic element to take care of any other living creature is empathy. Without empathy, you will not be able to feel another's pain or suffering as your own. And without feeling another's pain, you wouldn't be able to take care of them. Sadly in the hustle-bustle of this modern life, many people abandon their parents when they become old. And then, unfortunately, there are old people who have not been abandoned but nonetheless, they don't have anybody to take care of them.

So you feel the pain of the elderly as your own, and you have decided to work in the aged care sector. But what will it really take to do so? There are a lot of tasks that you can help out the elderly with. You can help them in their daily outdoor and indoor chores such as shopping and housekeeping. You can also help them at a more personal level, that is, maintaining their hygiene. Other activities that you can do include organising social support and making sure the person you're taking care of doesn't feel left out.

The Role of EREF in Solid Waste Management Research and Awareness

Solid waste management has been around as an issue since the beginning of the 90s, and of course, even before that. Although now it has surpassed even more in terms of mass, even back then it had created an air of consideration amongst environmentalists. Like in any other field, science was being looked at to come to the rescue for sorting out issues related to solid waste management. And thus with the help of data available at that time, the research began.

The organisation that came into being is known as the Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF), and it just celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019. The 25 years for the entity has been full of educational and research projects. The organisation has also played its part in using its valuable research findings to create policies regarding the improvement of waste management.

COVID-19 and the Refugee Crisis

The coronavirus has taken over the globe. In March 2020, COVID-19 was declared as a global pandemic and just by April, 1 million of its cases had spread worldwide. First, let's shed light on how all the countries have prepared to combat this threatening pandemic. Basic directions issued for safety include social isolation, usage of sanitizers and masks made compulsory all over the world. Due to global lockdown and following the prohibition of crowd gatherings, it has become risky for refugees to stay together in crowded camps.

The current pandemic has been quite stressful for everyone, and what adds to this stress is the uncertainty of when everything back to normal. This uncertainty stems from the fact that there is no known cure for the Novel Coronavirus.

What makes it worse is how quickly the virus spreads. Scientists all over the world and the World Health Organization have been working on a way to defeat the virus, and one of the strongest contenders is a vaccine.

A gender difference has been a problem in our society for as long as one can remember. The male-dominant culture and patriarchy have been going on for centuries as it was believed that females weren’t fit to sit on the throne. Thanks to the feminism movement and their fight for such rights, we see many more improvements in our society, but we still have a long way to go.

Now many of us see this is a very backward approach and that women also need just as much recognition as men do while many may argue that women get the credit. However, the pay scales don’t agree with the latter group of people. As of 2020, the annual pay of a woman at a job is 17% less than a man working the same job.

Child Marriage in Africa

Child marriage is a global issue, one that affects over 15 million girls and boys annually. While it affects countries all over the globe, Africa is the most affected continent of all. This is in part due to the high rate of poverty and low rate of education in the country.
A lot of research has been done into the causes and consequences of child marriage around the world. Awareness is being provided and various NGOs and social work organizations to countries in Africa and other third world countries, especially where there is no minimum legal age of marriage.
