As a way of welcoming the Lunar New Year, Meta has added a bunch
of new tools to Messenger, including themed stickers, AR effects, and updated 3D
avatar tools.
The new stickers feature a range of adorable tiger animations,
as this Lunar Year is the Year of the Tiger, while the new AR effect has been designed
to show the group Lion Dance.
With 2020 coming to an end, Snapchat has shared insights regarding
its AR achievements in the past year and results of surveys that the company
conducted among its userbase. Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, has all
of the information and a more detailed breakdown of the data is available on
Snapchat’s business site as well.
According to insights related to different attitudes of
users in relation to the upcoming holidays and new year, 57% of the userbase
reported feeling ready to embrace 2020 as soon as possible. Majority of the
contribution comes from users from Brazil and the US.
As for the holiday plans, unfortunately the worsening situation
of the pandemic is making it difficult for people to plan their holiday season.
The UK is especially affected by these circumstances as it particularly got hit
badly by the second coronavirus wave, causing the government to impose strict
lockdowns and SOPs for Christmas.
Snapchat users in the US have reported limiting their holiday plans to social distancing, which means no at-home gatherings and virtual exchange of gifts.
With the new year closing in on us, it goes without saying that we all have our hopes high. Looking back to the beginning of 2020, we can see how our year turned around due to the global pandemic. The coronavirus had us everywhere we looked. Social media, newspapers, the Internet in general, on television– almost every media was occupied by COVID-19. But that wasn't all.
In fact, there were many other major issues that made it to the news, regardless of the medium used. There were many tragic events that had us disturbed. Consider the brutal and cruel killing of George Floyd as an example. Or even the Australian bushfires, that killed hundreds to millions of animals and also disturbed the local people alike.
The new year is almost upon us, we can hear the Christmas chimes
and the new years vibes. Despite what the previous year has brought us, we can
always move forward with unity and strength. Social distancing may cause riff
in the world but some things just stay the same, just like graphic designing.
Graphic designing has been around for a long time and they are
used in almost every field. Whether you are designing a website, or using it on
a social media post, you can always take use graphic designs. With a lot that
has happened this year, people didn’t take much risks in the graphic design
departments. We haven’t seen some new trends or large-scale changes in the
graphic world as we know.
