Meta is continuing to grow its VR market and the company’s most recent move in this domain is the launch of its first ever retail and experience store, in Burlingame, California. The store will showcase Meta’s wide range of product displays along with interactive demonstrations.

The main attraction of the store is its large Quest 2 ‘display wall’ where people can experience a range of Meta’s VR games and apps. Alongside, a big, wall-to-wall curved LED screen displays the content that a user sees in their headset. If that isn’t interesting enough, people can also access a 30-second mixed reality clip of their demo experience, which they can later share with others.

32 Products and Services With the Highest Markup

How does a company make a profit? The easiest and most direct answer to this is by selling a product or service for more than it cost the company. The percentage over the cost they charge the customer is known as the markup. There are many factors a company needs to consider when determining a products markup price. First is the cost of production. How much does it cost the company to make or acquire the goods sold? Second is the market demand. How well is the product going to sell to your target audience? And the third would be what type of markup works for your business? Is there a standard markup for your industry? Depending on your type of small business you could benefit from different markup percentages. For example, service firms, wholesalers, retailers and contractors are all going to have a different industry markup percentage.

People across the world are paying more for everyday items like toilet paper, paper towels, meat, eggs, poultry, milk, and many more household goods. Prices for grocery have been up since mid-March and have no sign of going down in the near future.

To learn how Americans are adapting both their grocery budgets, their eating habits, and their general shopping habits during COVID-19, C+R Research surveyed over 2,000 Americans. Let’s dive a bit into their analysis to see what they found.

Apple now has a new retail location known as Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. What is unique about the company's new retail store is that it floats on water.

The store is Apple's third one in Singapore, after the first one named Orchard Road that opened in 2017, and the second one named Apple Jewel Changi Airport located in Singapore's world-famous retail sector of the country's transportation hub. Globally, Apple Marina Bay Sands is the company's 512th retail shop.

The Marina Bay Sands store exhibits the eccentric look of some kind of a spacecraft or a futuristic theater in the day time. The skyline is reflected in the glass panels of the store in the day light. At night time, the store comes alive in all its glory as it glows in a warm tone in front of the iconic skyline.

The Biggest Retail Takeovers and Mergers
Here’s the biggest recent retail takeovers, visualized as Pac-Men. Massive companies snap up other companies faster than you can say “waka waka!” This infographic from CouponFollow shows us a brief, simpler view of what’s been going on in retail. With Walmart and Amazon aggressively taking over much of the retail world, the options for where one can shop both in person and online has been exponentially shrinking. Especially in the past ten years, a handful of big companies have been anxious about successful e-commerce sites.

For some big retail chains, their strategy has been to ignore the problem, by and large. Those companies aren’t doing so well. For others like Walmart and The Home Depot, it’s been about snapping up each successful retail website in their niche space. And some, like Alibaba and Amazon, grew out of smaller online startups, and are now gobbling up other websites for their tech, branding, and expertise. What will happen in a few years? Will these giant Pac-Men turn to eat eachother?

Customer Returns
Customer returns are an inevitability in retail. People buy things, take them home and for various reasons, they will then decide to return them to the store they purchased them. While retailers likely hate dealing with returns, they need to have a policy in place that all staff understand in order to ensure it’s a streamlined process. If the returns process is not easy for the customer, you could be dealing with a bigger issue in the long term if they decide to vent their dissatisfaction at your levels of customer service to a wider audience.
