The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has introduced new and stricter standards for greenhouse gas emissions in the US from heavy-duty vehicles of model year 2027-2032.

 

In the US, transportation makes up the largest portion of the country’s carbon footprint. Heavy duty vehicles like big rigs and buses are considered a major source of pollution and contribute to a quarter of the US’ transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions – hence greatly impacting the climate.

Roughly, there are more than 7000 languages spoken in different parts of the globe. If we concise our research to the USA only, there is a huge list of a variety of languages spoken in different states of the nation. Commonly. Most of the Americans speak either English or Spanish and besides these two languages are several others. The infographic shows in detail which language is spoken in which state of the country excluding English and Spanish.

With a plethora of cultures and incredible diversity of religions, finding people speaking entirely different languages within a single state isn’t surprising. According to the data from 2019, around 78 percent of people aged five or older, living in America said that regardless of their nativity, they speak English in their homes.

Where do Americans spend their money via credit cards?

Credit cards are probably the most convenient way of making payments. It has made life a lot easier since you don’t have to carry a huge amount of money with you while shopping. Even in urgent need of money, the only thing that comes to the rescue is your credit card. These are used in every part of the world, however; different people have different opinions about it. But, if we talk about Americans specifically, they love spending money via credit cards.

The infographic below shares a breakdown of monthly credit card spending done by Americans. As it shows, the highest number of transactions were made for travel purposes i.e., up to $822 which account for 16.9 percent of the total spending. This is also because of the travel restrictions that have been released by a majority of the countries and hence, Americans flew around the globe.

Online services remain the most used payment methods in US and UK

Despite experiencing a minimal drop in the 3rd quarter of 2021 as compared to the 2nd quarter, PayPal didn’t stop the hustle of improving in every other aspect. From net income to active accounts and completed transactions, the company is growing in all the right directions. As revealed by the sources, around 66 percent of PayPal’s total earnings in the 3rd quarter came from its USA customers.

According to the infographic below, out of the top three payment methods surveyed in four different countries, PayPal is predominantly used in Germany and China i.e., by 51 percent and 76 percent of the total respondents, respectively.

For a long time, the US sports league was a thing for Americans only that no other country seemed to be interested in. However, the trends have been changing and according to a survey conducted by the Statista Global Consumer Survey con sports and fitness revealed some surprising results.

The results from the survey as shown in the infographic below which tell that the American leagues for baseball and football remain the obsession for Americans. Whereas, the world’s famous basketball league that we all have heard about i.e., the National Basketball Association league (NBA) were more likely to be enjoyed by people in China, Germany, and the UK. Additionally, the urban Chinese claimed that they follow NBA at a higher rate than the USA’s internet users.

Hospitals around the USA are once again filling up with Covid Delta variant infected patients. This time, the number of unvaccinated patients is a lot more than the vaccinated patients. The infographic below shows the stats from some hospitals in different US states that are experiencing a surge in the number of new Covid-19 patients.

As the chart shows, Louisiana is among the five least vaccinated states in the US with around 60 percent of the population still unvaccinated. Due to this reason, the state experiences the second-highest Covid-19 hospitalizations.

How much do US adults know about VPN?

CouponFollow conducted two surveys on a large group of US adults. One was carried out before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out and the other was carried out recently in March 2021. These surveys revealed that more and more American adults are now being cautious about their online privacy.

Around 69 percent of the respondents are concerned regarding the security of their data while using a public internet whereas, 64 percent are worried about it even when connected to their home internet. 65 percent of the participants said that they are afraid that their internet service provider might sell their personal sensitive information including financial or medical data.

A decline in apartment rates in the USA

Among the uncountable impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, some impacts are on the rental patterns as well. In the USA, several residents who lived in elite areas and in expensive rental homes, packed up their stuff and moved to smaller cities or areas with low rental properties. Furthermore, the increased remote working opportunities and work from home orders have made it easier for people to opt for homes in farther neighborhoods as well.

As the infographic shows, the largest decrease in the rental prices of apartments was seen in San Francisco that too, for a one-bedroom apartment. A 45 percent decrease in the rental prices of one-bedroom apartments in San Francisco indicates how people are escaping from places with exorbitant rents. As for a two-bedroom apartment, the rental fares went down by 24 percent over a year from March 2020 to March 2021.

The most impactful generation-defining historic events in the USA

In order to predict what the future can bring, it is important to take a look back at history. According to a survey by Pew Research, some important events have reshaped the way how generations think.

The Silent Generation (born 1928-1945) is the oldest generation that has experienced four different wars, the Obama elections, the tech revolution and a few more. Whereas, the Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) experienced historic events related to war and other violent acts. Such as, the Boomers cited the two worst assassinations of history i.e., John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963 and Martin Luther King’s assassination in 1968. The Boomers witnessed Obama’s election victory in 2008 as well.
