Data has shown that no vehicle on the road is more likely to get into a fatal accident than the Chevrolet Silverado. Based on accidents from the National Highway Safety Administration, from 2016-2020, Chevrolet Silverados had been involved in 8,777 fatal road accidents, which was much more than any other vehicle on the road.

Where are the worst drivers in America? This graphic from Automotive Touchup answers that question with the 50 cities that ranked at the bottom of the America’s Best Drivers Report from 2019. The 200 largest cities in the country were ranked on a variety of different factors pulled from the report, such as the average year between collisions. The national average is 10.57 years, which all 50 cities fell below and the lowest average was Baltimore's 4.19 years. The cities were also scored on the relative collision likelihood when compared to the national average.

U.S. Counties With the Most Fatal Hit-and-Run Accidents

It is an unfortunate reality that automobile accidents are common in modern society. Each year, 1.35 million people are killed in roadways around the world. In the United States, more than 38,000 people die annually in car crashes. An additional 4.4 million suffer serious injuries that require medical attention. Sadly, many of these accidents are hit-and-runs, so the drivers escape justice. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety reports that over 680,000 hit-and-run crashes occur each year. In 2016, there were 2,049 fatal hit-and-run accidents in the United States.

However, truck safety has increasingly become a topic of debate. Although some companies want to push their drivers to the limit to deliver the most goods in the shortest amount of time, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has set up regulations to stop driver fatigue and distraction that lead to most truck accidents. In 2017 alone truck crashes claimed the lives of 4,761 people and injured tens of thousands more. In a tractor trailer accident over 70% of those who are killed are occupants in other cars.

The 50 Deadliest U.S. Counties for Bicyclists

Be sure to wear a helmet if you're out on your bicycle! Bicycles, electric bikes, and scooters have increased in popularity because of their cost-saving benefits and low environmental impact. They also allow you to get some exercise in! However, as the number of cyclists on the road increases in time, the number of accidents will as well. Over the past decade alone, the number of bicyclist deaths per year has increased by 30%. In 2018 alone, 857 bicyclists lost their lives in traffic accidents.

Which States Have the Most Fatal Car Crashes?

Did you know that vehicle accidents cause 1.35 million deaths around the globe on average per year? In the US the small state of West Virginia has the highest rate of fatal auto accidents with 90.3 deaths per 100,000 people. 


This map shows how states rank across the United States in terms of deaths due to car crashes. It also shows that despite only accounting for 60% of the world's registered vehicles, lower and middle-income countries make up more then 90% of the world's traffic deaths. This could be due to poor road conditions, vehicle malfunctions, distracted driving, driving under the influence or driving with too much speed. The fatal crash rate is a staggering 3 times higher in lower income countries then higher income countries as well.
