Microsoft is planning to design a visual rejuvenation of Windows. The company indirectly revealed its plan through a job listing where it advertised for a role of software engineering in the Windows Core User Experiences team.

 

The job listing post read “On this team, you’ll work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is BACK and ensure that Windows is considered the best user OS experience for customers.”

 

However, the company removed references to the Windows rejuvenation after the ad post sent a wave of excitement for a number of Windows enthusiasts.

Back in 2017, Adobe had announced that it would be ending support for its Flash browser plug-in at the end of 2020. The time for that to happen finally came, and so support for the software has been terminated. Starting January 12, Adobe will be blocking content from running in Flash Player.

 

The change, even though major, is not going to impact users as such, since many popular browsers have already abandoned the format. As for users of iPhone and iPad, the devices never supported Flash in the first place.

Owners of the new Apple Silicon M1 Macs will now be able to run Adobe’s video editing software Premiere Pro, since Adobe has released an Arm version of the software for macOS. The program is still in its beta testing stage. Moreover, Adobe’s Premiere Rush and Audition have been updated to run on the new machines as well.

 

Premiere Pro’s features are being ported over in phases, including its core editing functions, workflows, and popular codecs like H.264, HEVC, and ProRes. Third-party integrations, however, will have to be updated by their respective developers to work on Apple Silicon.

Huawei was restricted to manufacture its chips in the U.S. as a result of the government's order. Moreover, a temporary general license that offered a reprieve for Huawei customers has also expired and won't be extended. This is making it more difficult for Huawei devices to receive Android updates from Google.


The U.S. Commerce Department has enacted a limited permanent authorization for Huawei entities that will allow for "security research critical to maintaining the integrity and reliability of existing and currently fully operational networks and equipment”. 


The temporary license covered several rural telecommunication companies that will now have to apply for licenses for previously authorized transactions. 


Commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross, said in a statement that Huawei and its affiliates have worked through third parties to harness U.S. technology in a way that undermines national security and foreign policy interests.

Apple has just recently announced its latest iOS 14 updates at the annual Worldwide Developer Conference. We also got to see the new features and UI updates that the new OS will bring to the compatible iPhones. However, the iOS 14 update will not be made available to all iPhones, and just like last year with iOS 13, some models will see their lifespan ending this year.

With iOS 13 release, the support for older iPhones, namely, iPhone 5, 6, and 6 plus, was ended. This means these phones will not receive further software upgrades from Apple. This year, Apple has been generous as the compatibility of the new OS will be made available to the 2015 iPhones, starting from iPhone 6s and beyond that.
