Ahead of the 2024 product lineup release, Apple is reported to be testing a new computer: a Mac Mini powered by the company’s latest M3 chip. The report has been shared by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, who specifies that Apple may be testing an eight-core CPU and a 10-core GPU Mac with 24GB RAM that’s running macOS Sonoma 14.1.

Gurman further emphasizes that any M3-powered iMacs are not likely to arrive before the first fiscal quarter of 2024, which starts in October. Additionally, the 13-inch MacBooks, namely MacBook Air and MacBook pro, are expected to receive M3-equipped updates during the same time frame too.

Apple Reported to be Testing a New M3-Powered Mac Mini

Apple’s latest iMac could be launching in the second half of 2023, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device is currently in its final stages of testing.

The new iMac will feature a 24-inch display, like the previous version of the device that was launched two years ago. It will likely be sold in blue, silver, pink, and orange, and is reported to have been designed with the latest M3 chip. It is also suspected that the new iMac will have some of its internal components redesigned and relocated.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is in the process of developing a new line of external monitors, including an updated version of its Pro Display XDR, that the company first launched in 2019. The current version of the Pro Display XDR is priced at $4,999. It features a 32-inch 6K LCD panel with up to 1,600 nits of brightness.

The report suggests that Apple has integrated its own chips in the computers, like how it added the A13 bionic chip of iPhone 11 to its Studio Display that led to special features like Center Stage, spatial audio, and “Hey Siri” voice commands.

The Best-Selling PC Games by Year

The first computer game ever made that changed the course of PC gaming history was called Spacewar. Back in 1962 when it was first introduced by MIT, it took a computer the size of a small car to run. As technology increased at a rapid rate, so did the computer hardware, graphics cards and overall game quality. Some of the best selling PC games since 1993 are listed here in a timeline from HP computers. You can see that in 2011 Minecraft was a top seller.

Specifications of Personal Computers Over Time

How fast was the processor speed of some of the first computers compared to the ones of today? Or how much more memory do today’s computers hold compared to ones created 50 years ago?

You’ll find the answers to these questions with this visual timeline of specifications for personal computers over time, created by the research team at HP. The timeline starts in 1971 with the Kenbak-1, which is considered to be the world’s first personal computer. The processor speed of the first personal computer was equivalent to 1.00 MHz and it had 256 bytes of RAM. The twenty-one personal computers that are included cover a variety of brands like Apple, IBM, Commodore, Gateway, Lenovo, and more.

The Fastest Super Computers Ever Built and Who Built Them

When it comes to processing speeds and very high levels of performance, no computer can match the absolute power of a supercomputer. They're a major part of the success of computational science as well, which includes weather forecasting, climate research, quantum mechanics and more, and can process information at a much faster rate than what we've become accustomed to with traditional computers. The research team at HP put together this infographic which analyzes the fastest supercomputers ever built, along with who built them.

The developers behind Google Chrome have recently been able to reduce Chrome’s memory footprint of background tabs by up to 8% on Mac, or just over 1GB on some systems in version 89, hence making Chrome’s latest version smarter at using and freeing up memory on MacOS.

Tab throttling has been improved in the latest version of Chrome as a result of reduced JavaScript Timer wake-ups. Chrome now uses up to 5x less CPU, as background tabs don’t wake up the CPU as much, leading to longer battery life, which is up to 1.25 hours better.

Why Google Chrome consumes large memory space in your PC?

The latest revelation about Google Chrome has left people wondering about its more compromising properties. A recent report carried out for the analysis of Google Chrome has revealed that the main reason, why your system lags or performs slow processing, is because of the large amount of memory it consumes while running on your PC. When you run the Chrome browser on your system, your memory experiences load and this ultimately causes the processing to slow down and take the necessary amount of time for the execution.

Google Chrome takes a fair share of RAM because this is the kind of web browser that requires huge memory space and even better processors to function properly. It is a common practice among PC users to open one tab after another. Whether you use each tab for a different purpose or not, the other tabs will always be semi-independent on each other. Meaning, each tab uses a completely different processor than its siblings, hence adding to the memory load of the system. In case you leave or forget to close all the tabs in the Chrome browser, you will find a noticeable change in the speed of your system as lack of idle processors will cause your system to die down and respond slowly.

Back in 2017, Adobe had announced that it would be ending support for its Flash browser plug-in at the end of 2020. The time for that to happen finally came, and so support for the software has been terminated. Starting January 12, Adobe will be blocking content from running in Flash Player.

The change, even though major, is not going to impact users as such, since many popular browsers have already abandoned the format. As for users of iPhone and iPad, the devices never supported Flash in the first place.

Most powerful Supercomputers of the world

Supercomputers can perform at or nearly the highest operational rate than general-purpose computers. Generally, the applications of supercomputers are in the scientific and engineering industry where massive databases are required to be stored and perform complicated computation in an extremely powerful system. The first-ever supercomputer developed dates back to 1964 named as CDC 6600. After that, several manufacturers have developed supercomputers with exceptional capabilities and features. The infographic shows the best supercomputers in the world and their incredible computational performance in Teraflops.

Back in June 2020, the Japanese supercomputer "Fugaku" had beaten all the previous supercomputers that claimed to be the best and ranked as the number one supercomputer in the world's most powerful computational machines ranking. Fujitsu, along with the cooperation of the federal Riken research lab, developed the masterpiece, i.e., Fugaku. The supercomputer is designed to perform three times more computations each second than the former list topper supercomputer, Summit from the USA.

How Has the MacOS Evolved?

Apple's Macintosh operating systems have been known for their user performance ever since their launch. With every newer version, the tech giant has come up with new features. Its latest OS, Big Sur, was just recently announced along with the launch of the iPhone 12 and other Apple products that will now run exclively on Apple's very own M1 silicon chips.

Every macOS had something to bring to the table. And this does not only include the user interface or the design, so to say. But rather the things and flow of the operating system happening behind the scenes. For instance, one of the biggest updates ever in the Mac OS lineup was the release of iCloud in 2011, which came with the Mountain Lion MacOS.

Edge Computing: Cities and Transportation

Computers play an important role in an average human’s life. With the amount of technology we use today, we are connected with one another in a long, never-ending chain of digital footprints. It didn’t take long for companies to adopt technology into their organization which increased the production by a substantial amount. Now, the talks of digital cities are in the air and technology can help whole cities to go digital, along with the transportation system.

Cities are getting bigger and busier. Tokyo is the most densely populated city in the world. Not in a long time, we will see big cities double their population. People from small towns are moving to big cities for multiple reasons. It is estimated that by 2050, the world’s population will be increased by 75%. More than 7.5 billion people will reside in cities which demands a new need for efficient systems to be in place.
