Edge Computing: Cities and Transportation

Computers play an important role in an average human’s life. With the amount of technology we use today, we are connected with one another in a long, never-ending chain of digital footprints. It didn’t take long for companies to adopt technology into their organization which increased the production by a substantial amount. Now, the talks of digital cities are in the air and technology can help whole cities to go digital, along with the transportation system.

Cities are getting bigger and busier. Tokyo is the most densely populated city in the world. Not in a long time, we will see big cities double their population. People from small towns are moving to big cities for multiple reasons. It is estimated that by 2050, the world’s population will be increased by 75%. More than 7.5 billion people will reside in cities which demands a new need for efficient systems to be in place.
If the estimations are correct, then we have a huge issue of congestion on our hands in the coming time. Converting into smart cities is the only solution. With technologies being more advanced by the day, it can be done with a good budget and proper systems.
