The Chinese owned app TikTok is reportedly planning to challenge the executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump to ban the app's operations in the U.S. It is reported that the company would possibly file a federal lawsuit to challenge the order soon.

TikTok has its U.S. headquarters located in the Southern District of California and might file the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in the region. The company is likely to challenge the constitutionality of the ban and Trump Administration's claims that TikTok is a national security threat.

On Thursday, Trump signed executive orders that gave a 45 days deadline to American companies to break off their ties with ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, and another Chinese owned service for messages, WeChat. When the news of the signed executive order broke, TikTok already started opposing it.

Imagine three giant tech companies like Microsoft, Samsung, and Xbox collaborating for something super exciting for their users. Well, this just happened. With the unveiling of Samsung Galaxy Note 20 handset earlier on 5th August 2020, it was also revealed that it has collaborated with Xbox for a unique Game Pass. There is more to add in the news, Microsoft also came forward for a partnership with Samsung to add a new version of Xbox Game Pass application in Samsung’s Galaxy Store. This application will be extremely handy yet convenient for the Xbox users to make in-app purchases and redeem awards from their Xbox Store.

However, the Xbox Game Pass app available already on the Google Play Store doesn’t support such redeems and purchases. But, Samsung and Microsoft seem to have a special deal that undercuts Google’s 30% and enable the app exclusively on Galaxy Store only.

Google's app, Files by Google, is an app for Android users that enables them to manage files and free up space on their phones in an easy way. The app is now being updated with a new feature, PIN-Protected Safe Folder.

The feature will let users set up a 4-digit PIN that will allow them to store any of their sensitive files in an encrypted folder. If meanwhile, users switch to another app, the folder will be locked and its contents will be only accessible through the Files by Google app.

The primary purpose of the new feature is to help people that share Android devices, so they can protect important files such as identity documents in Safe Folders. It will prevent accidental deletion or sharing of documents and will also let users keep any of their "sensitive'' photos private and secure.

Microsoft itself is a tech giant that has a history of the billion-dollar acquisition of enormous companies like LinkedIn, Skype, Nokia, Mojang, and a lot more. But, recently, a rumor came in that Microsoft seems interested in acquiring TikTok in the U.S. On Sunday, these rumors became an official and confirmed news by the Redmond-based company. Microsoft suggested exploring the purchase of TikTok; however, all the discussions would be completed before September 15th with TikTok’s parent owner i.e., ByteDance.

The deal which is possible to settle will involve the countries, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The deal would result in the prevention of banning one of the most popular social media applications due to national security issues. The drastic rise in the popularity and use of TikTok has faced a massive setback due to its security concerns and ties with China.

There is a large percentage of foreign, highly-skilled employees that are working in tech firms in the United States. These foreign employees are working under the visa program called H1-B that allows the immigrants to work in the United States. However, a new order in the country bans foreign workers from entering the country on non-immigrant visas until the end of the year.

Immigrant workers have positively affected the tech market in the United States and the economy. While the executive order was for recovery of the economy, many tech companies from states like Silicon Valley have voiced against it because the results may be quite the opposite. Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, who is also an immigrant, expressed his disapproval on Twitter and said that immigrants had played a vital role in making the US a global leader in the tech world. He continued to express by saying that there should be an opportunity for all.

Americans and their loyalty with brands
As avid users, we all have a strong preference for one company’s product over another. Whether it’s our personal care items like toothpaste and shampoo or a fashion apparel brand – we usually go for the brands that have proven fruitful to us over the years.

Recently, marketing agency MBLM conducted an interesting study – titled ‘Brand Intimacy Study’ in this regard, where they surveyed Americans and queried about the brands that they simply can’t live without.

Tech giant Google topped the list with around 41% of users claiming that they can’t live without its products and services. Apple and Amazon followed close behind with 33% loyal users. Video streaming app, YouTube became more prominent in the eyes of users by landing on the sixth position from rank ten last year.

Other companies that made the cut included digital music service provide Spotify, car maker Chevrolet and Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, AT&T, Facebook, and Head & Shoulders. Leading chain of department and grocery store Walmart was also part of the list for being one of the only source of fresh groceries in some parts of the United States.

Microsoft to Discontinue Support for Millions of Computers That Run on Windows 7

Microsoft will end support for Windows 7 starting today, Jan 14. This means that it won’t provide users with more software updates with software patches to prevent cyberattacks.

While you could continue to use your PC running Windows 7, without continued software and security updates, it will be at greater risk for viruses and malware,” Microsft wrote on its website. “In addition, Microsoft customer service will no longer be available to provide Windows 7 technical support.”

Microsoft has suggested that people who are still using Windows 7 should either update to Windows 10 if their computer isn’t older than three years or purchase a new computer. An update to Windows 10 would cost $139 for a single computer.

Net Applications has observed that from December about 32.74% of all laptops still operate on Windows 7 while Windows 10 runs on more than 900 million devices.

Latest computers have improved hardware that helps run computers swiftly while supporting advanced software but upgrading to new software on an older device can slow it down. Windows 10 carries new features including the latest security options like facial recognition and fingerprint recognition to log in that your old device might not be able to support.
