The Challenges of Cloud Monitoring

Cloud monitoring is essential for businesses that rely on cloud tools, which are now used more than ever. However, according to recent reports, 79% of organizations face widening visibility gaps in their cloud infrastructure, making it difficult to track what's happening on cloud-based platforms. Additionally, most cloud monitoring tools focus on one specific service, forcing data teams to gather and analyze information across different silos. This lack of visibility leads to reduced functionality, security risks, poor migration support, and delays in troubleshooting application and network performance.

Kubernetes vs. Docker

Kubernetes and Docker are the containerization technology that has gained popularity in recent times. Both of these technologies are popular in the cloud computing industry, as both are used for virtualization. Anyone who has a computer background would have at least heard these two terms somewhere in their careers. However, if you haven’t heard about them, read on to know.

Let’s make one thing clear, Kubernetes and Dockers are not an alternative to one another, but on the contrary, they both work best when they are combined together. Both of these technologies are similar yet different. Kubernetes can work okay without Docker and vice versa, but the functionalities of both container tools complement each other quite well.

Google just announced that it is planning to build a new subsea cable that will be linking the U.S., U.K., and Spain. The new cable is named after the pioneering computer scientist, Grace Hopper and will join Google's various other private subsea cables including the Curie, Dunant, and Equiano cables.

Grace Hopper is reported to go online in 2022. Google is planning to get it built by SubCom, that the company had collaborated with for its Dunant and Curie cables as well.

Furthermore, Google also plans to launch a new Google cloud in Madrid soon, so perhaps it is working on connecting the region to its global network. The new cable will be Google's first cable in Spain and first private subsea cable route to the U.K.

Google has just announced new updates for stronger security in Gmail, Chat, and Meet. It has also revealed new ways for IT admins to manage and secure devices conveniently in the Admin Console.

The company is currently working on a new standard: Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI). The BIMI pilot functions to allow organizations that use Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC), to validate ownership of their corporate logos and transmit them to Google securely. After passing all the anti-abuse checks, Gmail will start displaying the logo of the authenticated emails in existing avatar slots.

The BIMI standard is going to ensure a more secure email ecosystem. The strong authentication requirement will allow users and email security systems to be more sure and confident about the source of emails. On the other hand, senders’ brand trust will increase too and they will be able to provide a better experience to customers.

According to Google, the company will start the BIMI pilot in the coming weeks. The company encourages organizations to start adopting DMARC to help secure the ecosystem.
