Ooma’s collection of data breach facts and statistics exposes the human element of these cyberattacks. According to their graphic, 55% of data breaches were targeted malicious attacks by humans, while only 22% were due to human error, and 23% were due to system failure. Studies show that Microsoft Office applications suffered 69.1% of app attacks between 2021 and 2023. The software usually became vulnerable after employees clicked suspicious links or opened malicious attachments.

The team at Ooma demonstrates the impact that advancing technology and infrastructure have had on internet speeds over time. They’ve shown us the average speed across the nation each year since the internet was available to the public. These changing speeds reflect the use of different technologies, including dial-up modems, cable, DSL, fiber optics, and wireless technology. The introduction of each over time boosted internet speeds.
The negative effects of screen time are well known. Younger people especially develop negative effects like obesity, ADHD, depression, and sleep disruption when they spend too much time in front of a screen. Despite the known negative effects of excess screen time, a new study from Ooma shows that screen time is a problem all around the world.
Internet access is a normal part of life for most modern people. But as we can see from the team at Ooma, not all connections are equal. Some cities don’t have nearly as many households with Internet connection as others. You can take a deep dive into Ooma’s infographic to see the percentage of households in these cities that have Internet access as well as further details and a full list of cities that made the list.
When was the internet invented? January 1st, 1983 is considered the Internet’s official birthday. This is when a new communications protocol called Transfer Control Protocol/Internetwork Protocol (TCP/IP) was established. Prior to this, the various computer networks around the world did not have a standardized way to communicate.
Russia has caused the most expensive internet blockage of
2022 by first controlling the access and then blocking it specifically to
social media sites and news outlets. This data is in accordance with tech
company Top 10 VPN. The service puts the economic cost at $21.6 billion in the
country between the attack of Ukraine in February and the end of the year.
Since the blockages are country-wide, the large number of people affected becomes
the reason of the high price tag.

Lately, quite a lot of spam and duplicative Tweets have been circulating on Twitter, each containing the same words. Twitter quickly noticed this and took action by developing new, more specific rules around re-sharing of such Tweets to reduce their presence in the feed.
Twitter announced that it has updated its “Copypasta and Duplicate
Content” policy, which clarifies what causes violation of the policy, and
explains the penalties following it. “When we see this behavior, we may limit
the visibility of the Tweets,” says Twitter.
“Copypasta” is a slang term widely used on the internet for referring to an attempt by multiple persons to copy content from an original source and share it on a large scale across different internet sites or platforms. The process is common on Twitter, which Twitter identifies as a tactic for propagating a message, suppressing information, or manipulating Twitter’s trends, search results, and conversations across the platform.
In celebration of ‘Safer Internet Day,’ Instagram has
launched two major updates: a new Your Activity display and an expanded access
to its Security Check-up tool.
The Your Activity display is designed to improve content
management. It includes a complete overview of a user’s activity on the app,
such as time spent in the app, interactions with others, searches conducted,
and all the uploaded content. It also has a bulk delete option, which makes it
easier to remove posts and clips.
As for the Security Checkup feature, it is designed to guide
users through the steps needed to secure their account. The steps include “checking
login activity, reviewing profile information, confirming the accounts that
share login information and updating account recovery contact information such
as a phone number or email address,” according to Instagram.
The Security Checkup tool was originally launched in July
last year, particularly for users whose accounts had been hacked. Instagram is
now introducing the tool to all users, so as to provide them with enhanced
security control options.
Moreover, Instagram is making two-factor authentication
using WhatsApp available to users in some countries, which also serves as an advanced
security tool. The company is also testing an additional security tool that helps
users regain access to their locked accounts. This will include a process that
uses help from friends to confirm users’ identity in the app.
Instagram is certainly paying attention to improving safety
and security across its platform with the addition of enhanced control and
security tools, hence making users’ in-app experience better.
Online shopping has become a huge trend where billions of people shop online through various websites over the internet. Even if the buyers take a rest for a few weeks, the brand comes up with massive sale campaigns that attract the buyers incredibly. Buying was never this convenient until the discovery of eCommerce.
Are you also a regular online purchaser? You must be overwhelmed with the sales offered frequently by your favorite brands, right? Currently, most of the brands worldwide are offering Black Friday sales where people get magnificent discounts on items that they couldn’t buy at their original price.
This is where people forget everything and rather than visiting the stores, head to the online websites to get their hands on their favorite items before the stock runs out. But, what they forget is the risk of entering too many websites without keeping in mind their data collection trends.
In our lives, not a lot of things may happen each minute but when we take a look deep into the internet world, there are infinite activities happening every single minute. Currently, there are over 5 billion users who spend their time on the internet around the world. Activities from these users daily add to the data on the internet and to find out what this data looks like, we have attached an infographic below.
According to the chart, at the heart of the world of digital activity, most data is generated on everyday applications and services. Amazon, the largest online retail shop is the only place where people spend around $283,000 every day. Whereas, overall 6 million people shop online every day on the internet.

According to a study by Surfshark, it is revealed that how long would people in different countries have to work in order to pay their internet bill. As the infographic shows, people in Nigeria will have to work the most for about 35 hours and 33 minutes. This will make them earn enough to afford the cheapest broadband deal for a month. Not to forget, the worst broadband speed is in Nigeria.
Other countries in Latin America are also seen to have the least internet affordability. Moreover, Indonesians and Asians are also required to work for more than 11 hours in order to earn enough money to get a monthly internet deal.

Out of millions of mobile applications around the world, there are only a few countable apps that dominate mobile internet traffic. Even a second spent on the internet works on bandwidth which is why every activity that you perform on any mobile application, the data is being downloaded in your device in the background.
Therefore, the bigger the file or usage, the more bandwidth it has. In today’s infographic, you can find everything about mobile internet traffic and the most widely used mobile applications as of May 2021.

The first-ever website was created 3 decades ago on 39th August, 1991. Tim Berners-Lee at CERN was a British physicist from Switzerland who published the website, the WorldWideWeb (WWW or W3). The was a complete guide to the World Wide Web Project and how to use it. the site’s URL was pretty simple i.e., http://info.cern.ch.
By 1992, there were 10 online websites on the internet. However, after the W3 technology was made available for the public on a royalty-free basis in 1993 by CERN, the internet started to grow gradually to become the giant it is today.
Just within one year after the W3 technology was made publicly available, the number of websites reached 3,000. Out of the most widely used websites today, Yahoo is the oldest one which was originally known as 'Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web.' Yahoo initially served the purpose of a web dictionary.
By the time the most widely used search engine was launched, there were more than 2 million online websites on the internet. As shown in the infographic below, currently there are 1.88 billion online websites on the internet. This figure is constantly increasing rapidly with more and more organizations relying on e-commerce and the internet.
