Visualistan: Clothes -->

    Social Items

Google’s AI technology is making the online shopping experience even better, with the use of a virtual try-on feature that shows users how a clothing item looks on different body types. The integration comes after Google found through a survey that 59% of online shoppers experienced disappointment with their clothing purchase because they expected the apparel to look different on their bodies, while 42% believed that they weren’t represented by online clothing models.

In addition to various body types that range from XXS to 4XL, the models in the try-on feature will also have differences in skin tones, ethnicities, and even hair types. This will help give users a more detailed and accurate idea of how the look of a clothing item could vary depending on different appearances, thus also helping them visualize a product for themselves or a loved one before buying it.

China leads when it comes to clothing exporters from around the world. It has a record of having exported some $176 billion worth of garments in 2021, according to data from the World Trade Organization. China on its own made up a third of global exports that year. Next in the list comes the European Union, with $151 billion in exports. The bloc accounted for 28.1 percent of global figures. When looking at numbers on a country by country basis though, Bangladesh is the world’s second major exporter, having sold $34 billion worth of clothing abroad that year, which equated to just over 6 percent of exports.

Snapchat’s AR Try-On tools have been updated with a new option called ComplexCon, using which, people can now virtually try on branded clothes including t-shirts and hoodies in the app and check out their look without having to visit shops.

Visually, however, the digital overlays do not appear perfect in their alignment according to the user’s proportions. Nonetheless, Snapchat is likely going to improve its body-mapping technology, which it has been constantly updating ever since its release.

The ComplexCon is similar to Snapchat’s existing AR feature that allows trying on other products like make-up, glasses, jewelry, shoes, purses, etc., which Snapchat had primarily launched for ad campaigns. Moreover, the company had also collaborated with Prada and Farfetch to offer a range of try-on upper body clothing.

Amazon just released an interesting new feature called Made for You, that is going to let you create your virtual body double to try out clothes according to your measurements. The company has already designed the first product as part of its custom clothing service, which is a $25 tee available in a variety of colors, fabrics, necklines, and shirt / sleeve lengths.

In order to access the feature, all you need to do is take and upload two head-to-toe photos of yourself using the Amazon app. The photos should show both the front and back of your torso. After that, you will be required to mention your height, weight, and body type. Using this information, Amazon will create your custom avatar. You can then enjoy creating custom t-shirts along with a personalized nametag for your avatar.

Snapchat just announced a new partnership with the clothing brand Levi’s called the Levi’s x Bitmoji collection, as part of which, Snapchat is going to let users dress up their emoji avatars in classic Levi’s outfits like the 501 Original Fit Jeans, Trucker Jackets, and Western Shirts. Users will be given 12 outfit options to choose from and can also further customize their look by trying out unique styling ways.

Snapchat rolled out the feature of dressing up Bitmojis in outfits from different brands last year and partnered with Ralph Lauren, Jordan and other brands for that matter. This Bitmoji option has been a hit as Bitmoji is a popular Snapchat feature used by approximately 70% of the app’s users.

Even though the act of dressing up your emoji avatar in fashion outfits isn’t the same as doing that with yourself in reality, it still contributes to companies furthering brand affiliation and aligning consumers with a brand identity.

Laundry Hacks

Laundry is a part of every household, and it is a necessary task that everyone needs to perform once or twice a week. When we do laundry, we are washing different types of clothes in winter all the clothes are warm, but stuff often varies. There are woolen clothes, fleece, fake fur, Corduroy, knits, leather, and woolen blends. In summers we wear cotton, linen, nylon, silk or other light kinds of stuff. All these types of clothes need different washing treatment. Some garments are hot water intolerant, while others might need hot water for a proper wash. Some need to be dried in the shade without any tumble dry or heat, and others need heat along with tumble dry. You cannot use all sorts of bleach on all your white clothes, every fabric has its demand, and you should wash it accordingly.

We shouldn't twist some clothes, but we have been wringing them. We can iron most of the dresses along with steam, but others should not be steamed, and we should not iron leather directly. Some types of clothes need dry clean, and we should not wash them. We never think of this and put all our different types of clothes in the same round of washing machines. Dry all of them together in the tumble dry, wring them, iron all the gears with a steam iron, and the result is our clothes get torn out, the colors fade away, or the fabric loses its finishing. All of this is because we don't take care of our clothes, and we are ignorant of the fact that clothes also need specific treatment to keep them new and elegant.
