Drastic impacts of climate change on the world

Climate change has been a major issue for decades and unfortunately, very little is done about it. the infographic below reveals some brutal realities of the effects of climate change. The report under the title of Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis shares the updates regarding climate change consensus on global warming in 2021. The main highlight of this report is that by 2030, a 1.5-degrees Celsius change could be reached which can bring a lot of extreme consequences to the weather events.

Extreme weather events such as wildfires, cloudburst conditions, drought, cyclones, earthquakes, etc. are some of the most common effects of climate change. The number of these rare weather events is increasing drastically all around the world.

The most recent historic wildfires in the world

According to the latest assessment published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the rising temperature will exceed the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius in the next two decades as a result of human-made climate change. This can only be prevented if highly strict and immediate actions are taken all around the world.

The change in climate has already triggered droughts, heatwaves, extreme yet rare weather events in many parts of the world. One of these extreme events is a wildfire which is currently eating up huge areas of land in different countries.

In the Southern Europe region, Greece and Turkey, two of the world's most beautiful countries have been experiencing the worst wildfires in history. The extreme flames have resulted in rendering thousands of people homeless since the areas are rapidly being evacuated to avoid casualties.

Green buildings: An approach to reduce global warming

The world is getting worst and worst in terms of global warming, every other day the number of pollutants are rising. Things that are being overlooked now can bring a lot of consequences for the entire planet. Many people may not know that the construction of buildings also contributes to global warming. Wondering how? Well, in 2019, the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported that the buildings and their construction together accounted for 35 percent of the total energy use whereas, 38 percent of the energy and other processes related to carbon dioxide emission.

In order to reduce this number, the building developers and construction firms are looking for ways to construct buildings in smarter and greener ways. This will not only save the cost but also cause no harm to the environment.

Greta Thunberg’s protests against Climate Change

A Swedish environmental activist, Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg, is recognized worldwide due to her protests against climate change. She was as young as 15 years old since she started to miss her school for protests. The little girl very soon realized that adult and mature teachers who teach them stuff in school do not follow it themselves. That was the day when she decided that she needs to make her teachers walk their talk.

Greta’s story is extremely inspiring in various ways; she was born in 2003 in Sweden and was just 8 years old when she got to learn about climate change. She was so worried why no one is doing anything for this disastrous change coming our way. In 2018, Sweden was hit by record-breaking weather, heatwaves, wildfires, and a lot more, to which Greta decided to raise her voice. The girl missed her school and protested in front of the Swedish Parliament. She believed that she had to do it because adults were only putting her future at stake.

California has one of the world’s largest car markets

California is a beautiful and important state of the US. With the recent tragedies that has fallen onto it, is nothing less than heartbreaking. It is plagued by heatwaves which is the reason spontaneous wildfires erupt out of nowhere. This is a direct consequence of climate change.

There are a lot of safety precautions and measures in place to minimize the damage done to the state due to global warming. There are effective systems in place as to make sure everything is monitored. The authorities of California have announced to immediately halt the sales of vehicles that have a built-in internal combustion engine. This measure is said to improve the emission of toxic materials and a step to move to 100 percent emission-free vehicles.

Where and What are the Hottest Temperatures Recorded in the United States?

It's getting hotter all across the globe, and the United States is no exception to this change brought by global warming. One example os that of s desert region located where the border of Nevada and California lies. Since this Death Valley is a desert, it is already hot. But recently, the temperature in the death valley region shot to an overwhelming 130 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale.

Although that temperature hasn't broken the all-time record of the highest temperature ever recorded in the USA, it very much reminds us of it. Back in 1913, Death Valley had experienced a scorching 134 degrees. Moreover, the desert regions in the Southern West of the USA has experienced four of the five hottest days ever recorded.

The Amount of Ice Earth Has Lost in 23 Years

The topic of climate change needs no introduction, as the issue keeps getting worse day by day. But all these changes have been piling up especially since 1994. They have only recently begun to speed up, and we can witness that by how hot the climate around the world has started to become.

According to research by the University of London, as well as universities at Leeds and Edinburgh, our planet has lost 28 trillion tonnes of ice from 1994 till 2017. That amount would be equivalent to the entire region of the UK, and that too in-depth. And of course, the cause can be summed up using one term, that is, global warming.

Earth Day is an annual reminder that our homeland is hurting and we need to save it. This year marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and it was the best time to talk about climate change, global warming and ongoing global pandemic.

Earth Day was founded by Gaylord Nelson in 1970 with an objective of a national day to focus on the environment. Nelson directed the energy and motivation of the student anti-war movement to spread awareness about emerging issues like water and air pollution. It was a massive success as many people loved the idea and were woken about the state of our planet.

How Landfills, Food and Textile Waste Effects the Environment

The world we live in today is based on mass consumption of everything. Be it cars, textiles, food, anything that crosses your mind— is being produced on a mass scale. One reason for this is the consistent global population growth, another reason is consumer culture. These reasons have contributed to unnecessary production that has eventually led to a negative impact on our environment.

Perhaps the saddest of all waste forms is food. In fact, it is wasted to such an extent that if we reduce food waste, then the amount of carbon in the air will reduce as well. On number two we have textiles and it is no doubt that with so many brands coming up every second, textiles dump is at an all-time high.

Bill Gates published a blog on Tuesday to warn people of a potential catastrophe and urge preparedness for that matter. Gates has been known as an advocate of 'pandemic preparedness' as he gave a popular TedTalk back in 2015 to inform people of a tremendous number of deaths that could result from a potential global pandemic.

In the blog, Gates stressed that climate change could be worse than the current Covid pandemic. In an attempt to make people understand the potential devastating consequences of climate change, he wrote "look at COVID-19 and spread the pain out over a much longer period of time. " He further added that if we do not eliminate carbon emissions, we would face a great ''loss of life and economic misery.''.

Bill Gates Warns the World of Deadly Consequences of Climate Change

The biggest risk to the global economy

The world is not in very good shape right now, to say the least. The economy has taken a hit during the lockdown, and the unemployment rate hit an all-time high. Other than the pandemic, there is also a concern for climate change and how it will potentially affect the world.

The state of public emergency today is evident that when such urgencies rise, the economy suffers. With the growing concerns surrounding climate change, it is hard to pinpoint the extent of disturbance it will cause.

The data from the World Economic Forum, which was a result of a survey from hundreds of business leaders and political bodies, suggests the prominent economic risks that the world may face. The data was divided by global risks in terms of likelihood and potential impact. Both of the lists had concerns about climate change and had a significant emphasis on it. It is also evident that natural disasters are becoming more intense and frequent around the world as 2017 was the costliest year, with $344 billion were lost.
