The Surprising Power of Color

Not everyone in the modern world takes in a full range of color. Some are blind, some are partially blind, some are color-blind, and some live an incredibly bleak life. Knowing this, it may sound ridiculous to say that color is one of the most important factors in a few key areas. In the housing market, for example, the color of the walls can change the value of a home by thousands of dollars.

How to Choose Color Contact Lenses

It should be easy to create your distinct personal style, but with so many choices, it can be difficult to know which look works best for you. In this infographic flowchart we have collaborated with LensDirect to imagine the many tints and forms of light contacts.

Colored contact lenses empower you to adjust your eye color and build a look that's subtle, bold or anywhere in between — whether you want to enhance your daily look or rock a wild Halloween style and other special occasions. Most of the colored contact lenses are designed to mimic the natural appearance of the colored eye component, called the iris.

Since this region is made up of colorful shapes and lines, some color contacts contain a series of tiny colored dots and colored lines and shapes that are radially arranged to make the lenses look more natural on the eye.

The Beauty of Pi

This was based on a Tableau visualization he created, which you can find here. Alas, since pages do not work when Tableau visualizations are published, it doesn’t animate, but it’s still very cool and worth checking out. And I kept going, in the end creating a total of eight different pieces of Pi art (pun intended!). Chris Love even pitched in, adding a slight variation to my original circular visual. So, now I had a total of nine different visuals, but I still hadn’t attempted to create the one which so inspired me in the first place. In all honesty,

I was having so much fun creating these that I think I just wanted to let the creative juices keep flowing, knowing that the curves were going to be much more complex than the straight lines. But, now I was out of ideas, so I figured I’d better get to work on those curves.

How the Right Paint Colors Can Transform Your House into a Home

When I bought my first house, I knew one thing: The beige uniformity of the walls had to go. My nesting instinct kicked in hard and told me this house couldn’t really become my home until I added my colors to the place. I was excited and oh so naive. The next day found me in a daze, lost among the seemingly endless, looming shelves filled with paint cans at my local Lowe’s. I clutched two dozen paint swatches.

My experience goes to show that painting a home is far more complicated than grabbing a bucket of paint from the hardware store, popping the lid, and slapping a coat of Stars Forever (which is apparently a shade of blue) onto the walls. If you are as equally paint-innocent as I was, or if you’re just interested in knowing more, allow me to take you under my paint-spattered wing and explain what I wish I had known before venturing into the paint department.

SAD Tech to Treat the Winter Blues

One in five American adults has been diagnosed with some form of seasonal depression. For those among us who are sensitive to the ebb and flow of the seasons, the more extreme cases may result in Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD. Though researches are still not entirely sure the reasons for SAD, the symptoms are impossible to ignore. Individuals report disrupted sleep, lowered energy, depressive moods, and fatigue - particularly in the winter time. The blend of both mental and physical effects lead doctors to believe that SAD may have something to do with the way our bodies and brains process light; something we may see very little of during the winter months. Add a little more light into your life and beat the winter blues with SAD tech. This infographic details the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder, the science behind its treatments, and how technology is stepping in to make it possible.
