A developer’s job requires sitting in one place – during most parts of the day. There is no physical activity and thus – they are not able to burn calories while working on the computer. This often leads to overeating or overindulgence in snacks and coffee.

According to the Infographic below, an average developer eats more than 2.5 kg of food per day, while coffee, junk food, pizzas, chips, and soft drinks remain to be their primary choice of meal.

Caffeine – the common fix
Caffeine remains the top ‘survival’ beverage for office workers – especially developers. Most programmers work around 18 hours a day and rely on coffee, tea, and energy drinks to keep their eyes open.

Do you sit all day while working on your laptop? If yes, this might lead to a higher risk of severe health conditions. Researchers have found out that sitting all day can increase your risk of suffering from type 2 diabetes, tighten your hip flexors, and increase knee and back pain. In short, prolonged sitting and standing are associated with increased immorality in men and women. Moreover, standing workdays have also associated with a higher risk of varicose veins, poor circulation, and even heart failure. In this modern world, you can alternate between sitting and standing, but this does not replace exercise.
