Depression has stumped doctors and scientists since its discovery all the way back in early Mesopotamia. Early writings of this era discussed the ailment as being brought on by evil spirits. For centuries priests would tend to people with depression believing it could be cured through exorcism and other spiritual rituals. The earliest written accounts of what is now known as depression appeared in the second millennium B.C.E. in Mesopotamia. In these writings, depression was discussed as a spiritual rather than a physical condition. Like other mental illnesses, it was believed to be caused by demonic possession. As such, it was dealt with by priests instead of medical professionals. Even in the 1950s women suffering from postpartum depression were dismissed by doctors along with men who were raised back in those days to hide emotions and not talk about their feelings. Mental health has really only become a topic of open discussion within the last ten years or so. This map of the US from CEUfast.com highlights the cities that reported the highest diagnosis of depression. Some of the cities on the list like Salem, Oregon, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Salt Lake City, Utah were surprising as these places seem like fun, bustling, and very outdoorsy locations. Times are tough at the moment, which is why maintaining our mental health is of the utmost importance. Anything can set off the feeling of being low or depressed, whether it’s loneliness or the loss of a job. It can happen to anyone, and at any time.

Conditions like postpartum psychosis, chronic serious mental illness, severe depressive illness, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety issues, distress, and adjustment issues are pretty common among pregnant women or new mothers.

Loneliness during Covid-19 pandemic

Before the pandemic, loneliness was already one major issue that people were struggling through. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the loneliness rate by 181. Before the pandemic, 20.7% of people suffered loneliness, and during the pandemic, the percentage rose up to 58.1%. The drastic increase in loneliness rate was noticed due to the strict lockdown and social distancing in many parts of the world. People were unable to step out of their homes; many people who lived far away from their families were unable to return home or meet them. Moreover, every Covid-19 victim was exactingly instructed to isolate themselves and not meet anyone.

Due to the isolation, people who were already fighting with loneliness started feeling even lonelier. Most of the people, however, found out some ways to overcome the loneliness and connect with their family and friends through video chats using applications like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc.

April fool jokes are most common around the world. They are good for our health because it makes us lively and happy, you can get some ideas from friends on how to fool a person on 1st April.
