Snowbirds look for the best climate in the winter, but the Florida Rentals team shows that the ideal location depends on more than just weather—it also includes affordability and population. The team points out that Arkansas has ideal weather for snowbirds and is also one of the lowest cost-of-living areas in the U.S., making it a perfect option for snowbirds seeking low costs. Florida always comes out on top for snowbirds, though. Not only is the over-65 population high and the weather balmy, but no state income tax means there are strong financial advantages to living there. Compared to Hawaii, a dream location for sun and beach lovers, you’ll see an average of $4,624 in monthly living expenses. These prices put the islands out of reach for many snowbirds. The team helpfully looked at smaller-scale locations too. Florida County analyses show that Citrus County has much lower living costs than Collier County. The graphic shows that strategic, informed location decisions lead to the best snowbird experience.
The United States ecosystem is diverse, with areas dense with water cover and arid deserts and prairies. A new chart from Staten Island Yachts demonstrates this perfectly with a ranking of states by how much of the area is water-covered. Water makes up 7% of the United States’ total area. Many of the most water-abundant states are on the East Coast, with Connecticut, Florida, New York, and Rhode Island ranking highly. But the most water-dense state is Michigan, bordered by four Great Lakes and speckled with inland lakes.
Curious researchers at Irish Dual Citizenship created a map indicating how many international tourists every country in the world receives. The map shows us which countries tourists flock to and which are largely undiscovered by the rest of the world. The countries that tourists skip over are often very small, difficult to get to, or unsafe.
A strong passport allows holders wide access to many countries without the hassle and inconvenience of a Visa. Other countries may require a Visa upon arrival, making it easy to initially enter the country. When Visas are required for entry, travelers can get caught up in a lot of red tape, fees, and the possibility they won’t be allowed past the border. The team at Italian Dual Citizenship determined which countries have the greatest access to Visa-free travel and the most restrictions.

Are you looking to travel lightly and sustainably? Everyday activities impact the environment around us, and of course, this includes travelling – it can have a significant impact no matter where you’re going. We all know it’s best to reduce travelling by air, do fewer car journeys if possible etc, but sometimes duty calls and travel is required – our transport options are limited. However, there are many easy changes we all can do for the environment. Let’s look at what our top travel packing hacks are here at Situ!
Airports can be the most crowded and stressful places in
the world because of the slow-moving queues and bustling gates. Regardless of
the negative aspects associated with commercial air travel, on a general note,
it is an impressive system, with the biggest air transit hubs recording
passenger traffic numbers that rival the populations of large countries.
The Infographic used here has data from Airports Council International (ACI) to rank the top 10 busiest airports in the world, looking at total passengers enplaned and deplaned, with passengers in transit counted once.
Airbnb bookings were seen to be cut by more than 40 percent due to the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020, but were seen to bounce back remarkably well in 2021 and 2022. Driven by the strong uptick in international travel in 2022, Airbnb received bookings more than double compared to 2020 and last year, as the number of nights and experiences booked through the platform surpassed its pre-pandemic extreme. Viewing the gross booking value, Airbnb's performance in 2022 was even more impressive as it exceeded 2019 levels by more than 66 percent, all thanks to average daily rates that were considerably higher last year than they were in 2019.
Travelling can be as simple as just booking flights, finding
a hotel, and, then simply flying, but it all depends on the passport you carry.
But for many people across the world, it is not that easy. A
number of passport holders need to get a travel/tourist visa before their
arrival. These visas normally require approval from the destination country’s
government that can take a few weeks or months.
For example, Japanese passport holders are able to visit 193
countries without pre-approval (nearly every country on Earth). Afghans, on the
other hand, can only visit 27 countries with the same level of ease.
The ranking shown here uses data from Henley & Partners,
which determines the number of countries to which a passport holder has
visa-free access.
When we talk about visa openness and easy travel for African
citizens, the most open countries in Africa to list are The Gambia, Benin, and
Seychelles. According to the 2022 Africa Visa Openness Report, the three countries
do not require a visa from citizens from any country on the continent. In contrast
to these countries are Egypt and Sudan, as they rank on the last spots of the
list and require a visa from citizens from all other countries.
Out of 54, 36 of African countries have improved or
maintained their visa openness score since 2016 making Intra-continental travel
an ease for African citizens. Partial appreciation is for the start of acceptance
of e-visas, growing from 9 countries offering the service in 2016 (when the
first report was published) to 24 nations, including South Africa and Morocco,
according to last years’ list.
This infographic looks at international migration trends and what they mean for the future of our world.
In 2020 the number of migrants has quadrupled since 1960, with 3.6% of the world’s population living outside of their country of origin. In just the last decade, nearly 60 million people have become migrants. There are numerous reasons for this, including labour and family migration. This graph shows that the number of migrants is increasing year on year and there is no evidence to suggest that is going to change any time soon.
