Email appending, also known as e-appending, is a marketing practice involving the collection of recognized client information (first name, last name and postal address) and combining it with a vendor database to acquire email addresses. The aim is to increase one's email subscriber list in order to send data to clients via email instead of traditional mail. In the email marketing globe, email attachment is a contentious practice, with critics claiming that sending email to individuals who never explicitly opted-in is against best practices.

An appending email method includes either a business or consumer database consisting of contacts including name, address and company name[ for business contacts].
