NASA and Nokia join hands to launch a lunar LTE network

Making calls to astronauts on the Moon? Sounds unreal, no? Well, in a world that relies on technology, nothing is impossible. NASA and Nokia have collaborated in order to launch a 4G network on the Moon so that direct contact with the moonwalkers can be made to get real-time news.

According to the announcements by a Finnish phone company, Nokia, they have started working with American space administration NASA to create the first-ever cellular lunar network. The 4G LTE will be launched somewhere in late 2022 and would allow the users to have voice calls, navigation, data transmission, and also stream the astronaut’s biometric data to keep their vitals in check.

After complete lockdown which internet and telecomm blackout in Kashmir for more than a year, i.e., 376 days, India restores 4G services in two districts of Kashmir. The restoration has made to check whether the activities are maintaining law and order or violating them. This is a kind of a trial before making any further decisions. In the previous week, authorities said that the condition in many parts of Kashmir is “still not conductive” to entirely restore 4G services.

In August 2019, India scrapped Article 370 and blacked out Kashmir entirely. India wanted to eliminate the special autonomous rights of the Jammu & Kashmir.

The Growth of 5G

5G is an upcoming internet technology that is faster and more reliable than its predecessors. Currently, 5G technology has not been commercialized, which is why it is not commonly seen, but, in a few months, probably by the end of this year, the majority of the world would have switched to this technology.

It took 12 years for the 3G networks to gain a billion users after it was launched in the 2000s. At the same time, the 4G network grew three times faster than the 3G network – mainly because by the time 4G was launched, more people were aware of mobile networks and its capabilities. The 4G network took only four years to gain a global reach of a billion users.

The World's 10 Most (And Least) Internet-Friendly Cities

We can say that we are living in the age of the Internet, with almost every moment driven by this technological phenomenon. We share posts on daily basis on our social media news feeds, we stay up-to-date on what's going on around the world, we do online shopping, learn online, and there's so much more that we cannot deny the Internet has transformed our lives. Hence, having a good internet connection is important.

So let's take a glance at those cities which offer pure Internet bliss for work and personal purposes alike. London is right at the top of these Internet-friendly cities. With free wi-fi service in thousands of restaurants, no wonder this English city is ranked number one. Along with that, it has also been putting in a lot of efforts to launch 5G. It may also come as a surprise to many people, but almost half of the list is covered by Asian cities, with two belonging only to Japan- namely, Osaka and Tokyo.

4G and 5G - Reviewing the Basic Difference

Just about more than a year ago, we could have said that we were living in the era of 4G. However, things look very different in the Internet world at the moment. With the advent and introduction of 5G, people are drawing comparisons as to the actual need of 5G and its benefits over 4G, if any.

Downloading speed is always one of the major enhancements whenever a new generation mobile internet service comes out. Even if we do not download huge amounts of data at once, for example, movies and games, we are always uploading and downloading data on a daily basis. Even the act of receiving and sending data on the Internet is dependent upon the speed of your connection. So the speed is even more important if you use a mobile internet connection more than wifi.
