Diagnoses of Coronavirus in America
According to the CDC and John Hopkins University, 566 cases of the coronavirus have been diagnosed in the USA. The first case of the respiratory illness was reported in Washington and since then, the virus has spread to 31 states of America.

The states of Washington and California have the hardest hit with over 110 active cases each. The diagnoses in New York are also gaining momentum and reached 107 on Monday. Other states affected by the virus include Massachusetts, Florida, South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, and Georgia.
A total of 22 Fatalities have occurred in Washington, California, and Florida. 16 of these deaths took place at a nursing home in Washington’s King country. Authorities have locked down the facility.

Thousands of Americans are now following the ‘self-quarantine’ protocol. This means that those who suspect being exposed to the virus or have recently traveled to an affected country will isolate themselves to avoid spread.

The USA will also see more patients from coronavirus arriving via the Grand Princess cruise. The Grand-class cruise ship is carrying at least 21 confirmed cases of the contagious disease. The ship has docked at Oakland, California today and health officials have made arrangements to quarantine the diagnosed as well as the suspected individuals to military base for 14-days. Other passengers would also have to undergo medical screening before they leave for their respective homes.

The coronavirus is a respiratory illness that is caught via droplets released during sneezing and coughing. It is easily transferable, thus preventive measures are compulsory to avoid contamination. The U.S. has also advised its citizens to follow a mitigation plan to minimize the spread. This includes washing hands frequently and not touching the face.

As of this writing, the health scare has taken over 4,000 lives worldwide and the numbers are increasing every day. Due to the fear of an outbreak, many countries have ceased travel while schools are also off for 3 million children.
