The most typical types of crimes in the United States are property crimes. One of the most common is arson, which is the intentional and malicious burning of property. Some people commit arson due to reasons pertaining to insurance, while others may do it just to get revenge on an enemy.

From Parker Waichman, this infographic analyzes what cities in America are actually the arson capitals of the world, and takes into account the U.S. cities that have populations of at least 25,000 people. The statistics involved focus on 2017 numbers per capita, which rankings Chico, California as the arson capital of the United States. With 170 arson offenses per 100,000 residents, it puts them at the top of the ranking. California may also be the arson state of the U.S., as five of the top 10 states (and 9 of the top 20) are all there!
