Roofing material and its impact on home temperature

Summer time is a great time to go skinny dipping or go to the beach but it is also a time of the scorching heat of the sun blazing its way on your skin. Even if you are in your home, people face the same heat that they feel outside because the overall temperature of the house has gone up. This rise in the home temperature is mostly caused by the roofing material of your house.

Everything about Solar Energy

With the increased consumption of natural resources by man, the earth is deteriorating. The use of fossil fuel and continuous production is continuing to affect environment stability. Climate change, pollution and the ecosystem are affected and only us humans are responsible to reduce our carbon footprint.

In order to do that, using renewable energy is our safest bet. Water, wind and solar energy are three of the most important renewable energy and these energies should be the focus of our investment. Wind turbines, hydroelectric dams and solar panels are a great alternative to fossil fuels. One of these investments is solar energy and that is on what we are focusing today.

On Sunday, a major astronomical event happened as an asteroid about as big as the size of a car flew within about 1,830 miles (2,950 kilometers) of the Earth.

The distance was the closest ever recorded, according to asteroid trackers and the Sormano Astronomical Observatory in Italy. The arrival of the asteroid was not predicted by astronomers and was a surprise as it passed by the Earth. Director of NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies said that the asteroid approached undetected from the direction of the sun and no one saw it coming.

The asteroid was, in fact, first detected by California's Palomar Observatory 6 hours after it passed by the planet.

Many of the asteroids do not even cross the telescope's line of sight, which means that NASA has been able to detect only a fraction of Near Earth Objects (NEOs) like this one. This also poses danger as in case a potentially dangerous rock from outer space slipped through the gaps in the NEO-Surveillance systems, it could kill tens of thousands of people.

The latest asteroid is familiar to astronomers by the name 2020 QG and was initially called ZTF0DxQ.

44 Closest Stars and How They Compare to Our Sun
Stars have captured the imagination and admiration of humanity since the dawn of our existence on Earth. We know that the closest star to Earth is the Sun, but what about the stellar bodies that exist beyond our solar system? This infographic takes a journey across time and space to examine the 44 closest stars and how they compare to the Sun. Fascinating data on the size, distance, luminosity, and constellations of these stars shed light on just how vast and formidable the universe is.

The closest star system is Alpha Centauri. To reach Alpha Centauri with current technology, it would take 165,000 years! In 2016, scientists announced the discovery of a rocky and temperate exoplanet orbiting the smallest star of the system, Proxima Centauri. The habitability of this planet, Proxima Centauri b, has not yet been established, but scientists speculate that the massive solar flares emitted by Proxima Centauri may make the planet incompatible with life. However, that is only life as we know it – it is possible that UV-resistant organisms have developed on Proxima Centauri b.

Skincare Study: The States Most/Least Concerned With Sun Safety
May is skin cancer awareness month. According to the CDC, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in America, yet a new study found that just 34% of Americans worry about getting it.

Advanced Dermatology recently surveyed over 2,000 Americans and also analyzed Google search trends data to learn which states are the most and least concerned about getting skin cancer.

Let’s examine some of the findings from the report. 40% of Americans say that rarely or never wear sunscreen and more than 70% say that they only wear sunscreen during the warm summer months. Even more alarming, 77% said they only reserve using sunscreen for certain outdoor activities on summer days. 37% reported only wear sunscreen some of the time and only 23% say they wear sunscreen most or all of the time.

A Map of Every Object in Our Solar System
The path through the solar system is a rocky road. Asteroids, comets, planets and moons and all kinds of small bodies of rock, metals, minerals and ice are continually moving as they orbit the sun. In contrast to the simple diagrams we’re used to seeing, our solar system is a surprisingly crowded place.

In this stunning visualization, biologist Eleanor Lutz painstakingly mapped out every known object in Earth’s solar system (>10km in diameter), hopefully helping you on your next journey through space.

24 Hours of Sunsets Around the World

A daytime of 24 hours to 20 hours that differs depending on the closeness to the pole, for an expanded period of time, which mainly implies that it is bright and sunny for weeks and months! Obviously, these locations have a particular geographical location near the Earth's poles. This phenomenon happens because around 23 degrees tilts the Earth on its axis. This implies that the sun only rises and lays once a year at the poles, North Pole and South Pole.

These phenomena are noted closer to the North Pole, the Arctic Circle, because of human settlements. And although they also happen in southern areas close to the Antarctic Circle, due to it being an uninhabited continent, it is only ever encountered by the tasks of scientists or the strange adventurer. The maximum timelines for this phenomenon are: the sun rises on September 21 at the South Pole and will not set until the following year on March 22. The sun rises on March 22 at the North Pole and sets the same year on September 21.

Within or bordering the Arctic Circle, there are many nations where you can plan your exotic vacation. Some of these fields include Canada, Greenland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Alaska, and Iceland's southernmost sections.

Voyager 2: Interstellar By the Numbers

For the second time in history, a human-made object has reached the space between the stars. NASA's Voyager 2 probe now has exited the heliosphere - the protective bubble of particles and magnetic fields created by the Sun.

The Solar Wind Across Our Solar System

The Sun releases a constant stream of particles and magnetic fields called the solar wind. This solar wind slams worlds across the solar system with particles and radiation — which can stream all the way to planetary surfaces unless thwarted by an atmosphere, magnetic field, or both. Here’s how these solar particles interact with a few select planets and other celestial bodies.

Mind Melting Facts About The Sun

The sun's visible surface, or photosphere, is roughly 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, while the core's temperature is about 27 million degrees. That's more than 40,000 times as hot as boiling water. The energy produced in the core generates essentially all the heat and light we receive on Earth -- you would need to explode 100 billion tons of dynamite every second to match the sun's energy output.
