The Virtual Meetings: A New Normal

With everything about pandemic going on in the world these days, the paradigm has shifted towards the virtual or digital world. People are now more aware of the digital aspects and technology because everything was being done remotely after the world closed down. Businesses that already had an online presence did very well in somewhat maintaining their business; however, others weren’t that lucky.

A couple of decades ago, videophone, which is now commonly known as video calling, was a pipe dream and a thing of fantasy. It was only possible in a sci-fi movie in the future. Fast-forwarding to today, we are now in the prime of technological advancements. The Internet has saved many businesses from being overrun by the pandemic, and virtual meetings have become a new normal.

New 'Together Mode' for Microsoft's Teams Revolutionises Group Meetings

Microsoft has recently announced to launch a new feature for 'Teams'. The feature, known as "Together Mode" was under the works since the beginning of the global pandemic and it is now finally ready. It will allow you to create an avatar of yourself which will work live. That is, through artificial intelligence, you can place yourself along with other meeting members in a virtual space, which can be anything ranging from a meeting room to a coffee shop. But the features are more than just a virtual space, read on to explore.

The very basic advantage of these virtual spaces would be more fun and clear viewing. Since the virtual environment will be simulated, so there will be lesser distractions that normally go around in group video calls. Since Artificial Intelligence will properly determine and set the head and shoulders of every person, you also get to focus on their body language, which too is otherwise disturbed and hard to catch due to environmental disturbances.

This new Together Mode will be available to all Microsoft Teams users in August. In the beginning, only an auditorium view will be offered, but more views and virtual spaces are expected with time. Along with this Together Mode, a dynamic view feature is also set to be launched soon, which will be useful for giving presentations to a large group of people. It will enable people to share content dynamically and simultaneously and it will also allow you to view your presentation at one side and some specific people's video on the other, for all team members. Moreover, Microsoft is set to increase the number of meeting participants to 1000 and even as many as 20,000 for exactly such presentation meetings and discussions.
