Twitter’s New Explore Tab Resembles TikTok’s Display - Visualistan -->

As part of a new test, Twitter is experimenting with a redesigned Explore tab where tweets are displayed in a full-screen, vertical scrolling format.

The new feed looks quite similar to TikTok’s, which isn’t a surprise anymore, considering the massive impact of TikTok on almost every social app, with its popular trendy features. It makes sense why other apps continue to develop features to align with TikTok and provide users with a more compelling experience. However, it does get monotonous to see the same features everywhere. Nonetheless, social platforms like Twitter still continue to use such developments for their benefit, as it drives their content.

While most apps have been following TikTok’s format, there is one thing that none of them has been able to get right – the unique algorithm. It is mainly TikTok’s algorithm that shows users more and more of the videos that they like, hence keeping them undistracted and addicted to watching these videos. This is why even a popular app like Instagram hasn’t been able to make much out of its TikTok-like feature Reels, as Instagram’s algorithm doesn’t influence the flow of Reels content among users as much as TikTok’s.

Therefore, even with Twitter attempting to try something similar to TikTok, it is pointless to keep our hopes high. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how the new Explore feed is perceived by Twitter users. The feed is currently being tested in selected countries, including India that is the test’s primary focus, as TikTok is banned there.
