‘Citizen’ is a safety app that has been designed for users
to report crime scenes or emergency situations in their region. It sends users
location-based alerts by scanning police communications and compiling user
reports. The app has also started paying people who film content and send it
over.
The company has posted job listings, through which it is recruiting “field team members” in Los Angeles and New York. It promises to pay applicants $200 to $250 a day for spotting and livestreaming events in their area. Applicants are also expected to interview police officials and witnesses involved in the event.
The company has also stressed that applicants will need to
be very quick on their feet to be able to contribute to the app’s mission, as
well as locate and incorporate interviews.
Until now, the company has managed to recruit 12 field team
members.
