Who does the general public trust the most?

There are numerous sources through which we receive information regarding different things and these sources could play a huge role in impacting society positively or negatively both. The infographic below shows a “veracity index”. The veracity index is a metric that gauges the trustworthiness of different individuals and institutions. Moreover, through this index, the meaning of trustworthiness for the general public and also people’s thoughts regarding the information sources on which they rely heavily.

As of March 2021, the healthcare professionals and caretakers were trusted the most by people. According to the infographic, the local pharmacists were ranked at the top with the highest level of trust i.e., 96 percent. Followed closely by nurses and doctors with a 95 percent and 94 percent trust level, respectively. The doctors have however lost one percent of the public’s trust as compared to May 2020.
People lost the highest percent of their trust i.e., a negative 16 percent from the government ministers. EU leaders and Politicians have also lost a negative 9 percent and a negative 8 percent of their credibility from the general public.

But, the most surprising sector that has the least level of public’s trust is the social media influencers. Since the social media influencers are all rage currently, a lot of people believe that they have a strong follower base but in reality, only 6 percent of people have their trust in these social media influencers. As the chart suggests, these influencers are losing their credibility with time because the level of trust has already declined by 2 percent since May 2020.
