Instagram further shared its 5 top-most trending memes that have been shared on its platform in this past year. These included the meme made by Dolly Parton which was a combination of 4 of her photographs in different attires and poses, from her 74th birthday. Instagram mentioned the meme as its top favorite one.

Rest of Instagram’s favorite memes included the ones made by certain accounts like @drunkstrology, @sainthoax, @cthagof, @bennydrama, and @theshaderoom. The company also mentioned a few more accounts that made memes specifically targeting the 2020 elections held in November. The accounts mentioned were @chnge, @reaction._.pics,@jfirstaman, @whitepeoplehumor, @complex, and @berniesanders.

Instagram also took the opportunity to acknowledge that its platform doesn’t just serve as a medium to share sarcasm and humor, but is also used positively for the purpose of educating people about certain important topics, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, whose slogan was recently trending over the internet. The company credited some of the accounts that particularly contributed to this act: @intersectionalenviromentalist, @shityoushouldcareabout, @theconsiouskid, and @soyouwanttotalkabout.
