In light of the chaos spread by the global pandemic, experts have continuously been making efforts to come up with a suitable vaccine. But of course, it is easier said than done. The nature of the virus is such that previous vaccines are inapplicable. The number of candidates doing vaccine tests around the world is approximately 200.
Among various trials being conducted across the globe, the University of Oxford has made its fair share of contribution. The response initiated to their trials on approximately more than a thousand people was a rather positive one. According to the science journal, The Lancet, the initial few phases of vaccine development for COVID-19 have been successful to the extent that we can expect a vaccine to come out soon enough.
Although the trials have been going on in multiple countries worldwide, there hasn't been even one approval as yet. But there have been a few developments in the last phase, and it is expected that we shall all soon have a vaccine, even though the majority are in the initial development phase at the moment. Have a look at the infographic below to see the number of candidates in each phase, as per the end of August.
