Equal rights for women have always been debated for
centuries, but now they are raising their voices and demanding their rights.
There are several things that a woman can do just as good or even better than
men and be as strong as independent as any other human. Success does not have a
gender – it comes to those who are genuinely hard working.
The women’s full financial potential is often suppressed by
many factors, which are mostly because of sexism and gender inequality. A more
well-known statistic that you may or may not have heard that a woman makes 81
cents for every dollar a man makes, which may be true in some cases due to the
wage gap that is unfortunately still a problem in our system. It causes adverse
effects on women’s economic status.
The majority of the women told UBS Global Wealth Management
that they leave the long-term financial decisions of their household to their
spouses/partners. They believe that men are more educated than them in
financial strategies. Having a financially supportive male partner is not a bad
thing, but not participating or having less knowledge about financial planning
and managing can lead to serious financial consequences for women in an
unfortunate circumstance of a divorce or death of a spouse.
Thus, women need to be financially independent, and their
importance is a requirement in modern times. Women empowerment and independence
can lead to many positive results such as sound financial health, long-term
stability, and, of course, peace of mind due to independence.
