Is the Trend of Awareness Days Worth it?

Living in the digital age, it has become easier for everyone to raise their voices and take a stand for what they care about. It doesn't always have to be something big or educational, but it has to be something people have an emotional connection with. Today, various 'days' are commemorated, today there is an entire plethora of days rather than just Mother's Day, Father's Day or Friendship Day. In fact, awareness days are being celebrated for things as simple as your socks!

It's no wonder that awareness days create a hoard of opportunities for brands, but how much of these are actually worth it? Let's first consider the factors which go into making a brand a 'superbrand'. A brand's social media presence is driven by the number of followers and the engagement or outreach created by every post. The ROI or Return of Interest depends not only on the target audience or consumers, but it also depends on the brand's products and services, and even more important- how they align their marketing with important events, showcasing sympathy and customer care. If the target audience is captivated enough by your posts to retweet them or share them on their social media platforms, the benefits can be expected to double.

So bottom line- all the hard work and preparation that goes into awareness days, helps you connect with people who are on the same wavelength as you. People who care about the same things as you do, whose voices and perceptions are the same as yours. Remember, people will connect to your post if it coincides with the mission and motto of your brand. Suppose if your business is a cinema complex, then you are more likely to benefit from popcorn day than brands which do not share the same niche.

Another important point is that quality is more important than quantity, and with so many days hanging around there's hardly any breathing space left. Either you focus more on quality or you strike a balance between the two. This blows out the impact of each day and posts are most likely to get crammed.  All in all, the impact of these days hasn't been much impressive and you can see the statistics below to find out why.
