George Floyd was relentlessly murdered by a police officer on 25th May 2020, in one of the most tragic and sad moments this year. However, this ignited the flame within the people that killing of innocent black people must stop. We are now seeing protests and riots breaking out in the movement called Black Lives Matter.
With Floyd’s murder, more and more people are joining the
protests against police brutality and their meaningless racist killings. This
one murder may have finally snapped the people, but the killings of people of
color were going on for generations whose stories are not known by many. These
killings were horrendous and horrifying on their own as there are black people
who died young – far too young.
It is high time that we recognized the white privilege and
stopped killing innocent human beings, be it, anyone. The protests are not only
being held in the USA but have now reached the UK and Europe for the same
antiracist reasons.
