What is the first thing you do every morning? For 58% of people checking their email is their first move. Email came before social media, news sites or even google. Some have said that email is dying but even 58% of Gen Zers say that they check their email several times throughout the day. 35% of all emails received require a response, and 23% require an immediate response. Oddly enough a business’s average response time is 42 hours.
Across all generations, people expect a response time that is less than one hour. When this doesn’t happen businesses not only lose customers but they also lose interest. Companies on the other hand that made email response time a priority and responded to inquiries with one hour were found to be 7x more successful than those who took twice as long and 60X more successful than those who took 24+ hours.
