Facebook has started to put a ban on all Ads that intend to profit from the fear of the Corona virus.
According to Business Insider, Facebook has announced that it will restrict ads from all it's platforms that intend to "create a sense of urgency" among the audience for their gain.
People have been seeing such ads in some parts of the world that Facebook has observed, are ran to capitalize on the growing fear.
"We recently implemented a policy to prohibit ads that refer to the coronavirus and create a sense of urgency, like implying a limited supply, or guaranteeing a cure or prevention. We also have policies for surfaces like Marketplace that prohibit similar behavior,” announced Facebook.
This goes to show that Facebook is playing it's part to avoid the spread of any misinformation regarding the virus. Only recently the company had announced that it aims to enhance it's methods of fact checking and also been dedicated to remove any false information that may harm people.
Many sites have been gathering all the false information regarding the spread of Corona virus which involve suggesting remedies that don't work and any misinformation about it's causes.
Currently, there are over 79 thousand people who are affected around the world and about 2,600 have reportedly passed away from the outbreak in a few months. And although, efforts are being made to have it under control, panic among people is still on the rise.
Provided all of this, it gives all those ethically corrupt, to use it as a commercial gain. The step taken by Facebook is worth an applause but because people are still on the edge, the platform might be required to do more in this matter.
