The Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely a juggernaut of film today, but that wasn’t always the case. The first Marvel movie created was Howard the Duck, released in 1986, and was most definitely not a success. It’s hard to look back at that movie and think it’s from the same production company as The Avengers, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Technology has changed, and so has what the audience wants to see.
With Ant-Man coming out in July 2015, we wanted to go back and take a look at all the films that Marvel has released. Yes, even Howard the Duck. In this infographic, “Marvel at the Movies,” we start in 1986 and go down the filmography one at a time. We detail whether the film was a success or failure, notable stars, and interesting trivia.
