Why are businesses moving to the cloud?
Moving to the cloud is considered a critical first step in the journey to digital transformation. As 4 out of 10 current market leaders are expected to be displaced by agile and innovative new businesses (Global Centre for Digital Business Transformation), digital transformation has never been more important.

Currently, 95% of businesses are using the cloud, with the majority opting for hybrid cloud solutions like Office 365. A further 85% of businesses are using a blend of private, public and hybrid rather than sticking to a single solution (RightScale).

Cloud adoption is not an easy process for business leaders, with 62% reporting that their business failed to align strategy with IT goals and a further 41% facing resistance and a lack of understanding from other departments (Oracle).

Despite these challenges, 63% of businesses aim to move their entire IT estates to the cloud (CIF). There are a number of benefits to be realised from moving to the cloud, including significant cost savings, greater staff mobility and productivity, less maintenance and scalability. Many were concerned about the security of the cloud but as this infographic shows, security is a key asset of the cloud.
