Microsoft is Testing a New Edge Feature that can Detach the Sidebar and Pin it to Desktop - Visualistan -->

Microsoft has developed a new function to be integrated into Edge, which makes it possible to detach the sidebar in Edge and place it on your desktop.

Currently in the testing stage, the new “Detach from Edge” button can be found at the bottom of Edge’s sidebar. Clicking on it will automatically pin the sidebar to your desktop on the right. What’s more is that when you minimize your Edge window, the sidebar will still be accessible on your desktop. From there, you will be able to access Edge tools without having to keep the browser open. The sidebar can be removed off your desktop by clicking on the same button.

From the pinned sidebar, you will be able to access Microsoft’s AI chatbot and image generator, Microsoft Office, open emails and pinned sites, play games, and more.

The new sidebar function sounds like an efficient addition to Edge, as it can make the process of using the browser more convenient, especially when you are busy with a different task on your desktop and quickly need to take a glance at something from Edge.

The feature is reportedly going to roll out to a limited number of users, including a subset of Edge Canary and Dev users.
