Shein was founded in 2008 in Nanjing, China. This huge fashion brand sells the
apparel directly to its consumers all over the world via internet. Their
worldwide reach makes them earn huge profits. According to ecommerce database,
the largest market for online retailers is the United States. Last year, the
company grossed almost $5.8 billion stateside with its trendy, fast-fashion
digs.
Traditional department stores are also still high on the list of America's biggest online fashion stores. For example, Macys.com which is a local American brand and has its headquarters located in New York City, it comes in second place in the list. It has generated revenues of almost $5.6 billion with online fashion sales in 2021. Kohl's comes on sixth position, while Nordstrom is in seventh place. Big box retailers Walmart and Target also made their way to the top 10 in 2021 with their internet apparel sales, while the huge ‘online everything-store’ Amazon even made to rank at third position. Just two companies on this list are retailers that sell only online: Stitchfix.com and Shein.com. They have been winning the hearts of their customers with a personalized model of curated shipments and customizable shops based on user preference.
