Where Are the Highest and Lowest High School Graduation Rates in the United States?

Where in the United States were high school graduation rates found to be the highest and the lowest? Learn more with this guide from uscareerinstitute.edu which explores graduation rates across the country. It includes a map visual that identifies each state’s average graduation rate, as well as the 20 counties with the highest and the 20 counties with the lowest graduation rates in four different brackets based on population size. The lists were broken down into extra-large counties with 500,000+ people, large counties with 100,000-499,999 people, mid-sized counties with 10,000-99,999, and small counties that have a population size of less than ten thousand. The four counties that were found to have the highest graduation rates include Allegheny County in Pennsylvania, Douglas County and Park County in Colorado, and Falls Church City County in Virginia. 


All of these counties had graduation rates of 95% or more. The county that was found to have the lowest graduation rates for each bracket include Bronx County, NY for the extra-large bracket and Texas counties came in at the top for the other three: Hidalgo County, Starr County, and Kenedy County which had the lowest graduation rate overall at just 26%.
