Clubhouse, a popular social app, now has new rivals to
compete with, including Twitter’s Spaces and Facebook’s Messenger chat rooms. The
platform is, therefore, making sure to keep itself updated, and remain distinct
among its competitor apps.
Paul Davison, Chief Executive Officer of Clubhouse, shared
that it was observed that some users liked interacting with each other via long
direct messages on the back channel. As a result, the company has come up with
a new feature of Backchannel.
Clubhouse seems to be experimenting with the new feature, as it was spotted by users, but then it disappeared after a week.
It is not confirmed whether Clubhouse will make a permanent addition
of the Backchannel feature any time soon or not. According to a Clubhouse
spokesperson, many features of the app are tested and may appear on the app,
but not all of them get approved, and so some may not become part of the app.
Since the competition for Clubhouse is getting tough with many
social apps introducing direct messaging features, including Spotify that
launched ‘Greenroom’, we may predict that the Backchannel feature would
eventually be introduced on Clubhouse.
