The immense popularity gained by the gaming industry in the previous decade is probably the biggest achievement in technology. The infographic below reveals the most highly-priced games, the budget that developers estimated, and how much they make in real. On top of the list is the most famous and the biggest open-world freedom game, i.e., the Grand Theft Auto V, with an estimated budget of $291 million. According to the graphic, 135 million copies of the game were delivered all around the world for different platforms in 2020. In addition, the game was able to generate around $6 billion by 2018. Grand Theft Auto has made several series such as GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA I, II, III, and IV but, the incredible fame and profit earned by GTA V were supreme and beyond the developers’ expectations.

Followed by the extremely competitive game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which has an estimated budget of $250 million. The approximate number of copies sold of COD: Modern Warfare 2 is 22.7 million.

The list includes several other games that are priced supremely high such as, Star Citizen and the third place. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII, Halo 2, Max Payne, and more have made their striking entry in the list of costliest video games ever.
