It's been over a year since the novel coronavirus came into existence and the first case was diagnosed in China. Eventually, COVID-19 spread all over the world in 2020 and before we knew it, it had gone to such an extent that lockdown had to be implemented and travel restrictions had to be imposed everywhere.
Apart from all the physical restrictions, it's the mental health of humans that has been drastically affected. We can see the economy crashing and the hurdles people are facing on a daily basis, but we cannot always see how it is affecting mental health. It may or may not be apparent but according to new statistics and various health reports, mental health illnesses have been on the rise during this entire pandemic episode. Clearly, it's a result of the loneliness and anxious feelings concerned with the near future.
Other factors may pre-existing health conditions which may have worsened because of the pandemic. These can be physical diseases, as well as prevalent poor mental health. Young people are facing this the most, perhaps due to educational institutions closing down. Whereas another factor is also job loss and unemployment, which has affected people of varying ages, whether they are youngsters or experienced professionals.
