Since India does not have Apple directly manufacturing in the country, therefore the cost of import duty is what adds up to the expensive consumer price of iPhones and of course, other Apple products as well. This is the main reason as to why there are as less as 3% sales of Apple in India since there's a little audience that can afford the iPhone.
For those phones that have factories set up in another country, for instance, Oppo and Xiaomi in India, then the consumer prices end up being low and affordable.
