TikTok Launches a New Initiative to Entertain Users During COVID-19 Lockdowns

TikTok has recently introduced a new initiative called #HappyAtHome to keep users entertained and connected with their favorite celebrities amid lockdowns.

With this, TikTok attempts to bring popular musicians, actors and comedians to the platform where they will share a series of live streams at 5pm every day.

"We've partnered with a wide range of amazing celebrities and creators to launch something special: #HappyAtHome: LIVE!, a week of nightly programming that kicks off today at 5:00 PM PDT and will run each evening through Friday. The goal is simple: share in a bit of levity, provide some comfort, and embrace the responsibility we all have to do the right thing by staying inside and stopping the spread. There's a lot we can't do right now, but this is one small way we can all help each other during these trying times," announced TikTok.

It is not known for how long TikTok plans to run the program for, but you can expect some of the best celebrities during the first week. From inspirational talks and cooking tips by Tyra Banks and Arnold Schwarzenegger to intimate performances by award winning artists like Alicia Keys and Jason Derulo, TikTok has got a lot in store for its users.

But entertainment is not all TikTok plans to bring, it will also have streams from WHO to keep users educated on the current pandemic. It also aims to promote the 'Stay Home' message on the platform.

TikTok has seems a noteable rise in users over the past year but it still hasn't earned much revenue in western markets and most of its revenue is being generated by eCommerce integrations.

With time, we can expect TikTok to introduce eCommerce tools to gain more revenue and perhaps now is the right ye to do so.

It will be interesting to see what comes next on the platform, but now awareness appears to be it's prime focus which can also drive in as many users as possible to the app. While the opportunity is great, it makes sense that it is introducing celebrities to reach more audience.

While we can't be certain where the app stands in long-term, it has massive potential to attract more people.
